Bali Fashion Week VI

BADUNG – Moda Bali Convex supported by the Bali Government held Bali Fashion Week (BFW) VI at Discovery-Kartika Plaza Hotel, Kuta, Bali. The annual fashion event which was held between the 6 – 8 June 2005 was entitled “Celebration of Life” and performed 3 major events: Fashion, Trade and Entertainment. Indonesian designers who present within the fashion show are Afif Syakur, Ali Nasrullah, Arifin Mas, Denny Khosuma, Dina Midiani, Oka Diputra, Popy Dharsono, Putu Aliki, Sandryant and Sofie, whilst foreign designers are Tatya Sudarjanto and Daria Razumikhina from Russia, Catalin Botezatu from Romania, Abhishek Dutta from India, Peter Lau and Cecilia Yau from Hongkong, Melinda Looi and Tom Abang Saufi from Malaysia, with their own models. This year BFW is also presenting “The Longest Batik Painting” (batik making length of 300 meters), “Street Carnival”, and “Bali Party Blast”. (BTN/015)

Ritz Carlton visits Besakih

KARANGASEM – As the founding father for Besakih tourism, the Ritz Carlton Hotel held a survey for MCK (Mandi Cuci Kakus – Bathing, Washing and Toilets) on Tuesday (7/6). This visit is a part of the Tri Hita Karana Award program. Wirantaja, Assistant Chief Engineering and Arya representating the Ritz Carlton were welcomed by the Village Chief of Besakih Drs. Gunaksa in his office. According to Gunaksa, toilet facilities existing within the three locations mainly in the pesucian (praying area), Kesari Warmadewa hall and below the hall are still in good condition, but not well functioned because of a lack of water. Water usually is available only once in a week. People also complain about the waste. Wirantaja said that the water problem can be overcome by making water relocation with 50 cubic capacities that will provide a complete week’s supply. (BTN/015)

 

Inauguration of Bangli’s Regent Functionary

BANGLI—Drs. I Wayan Suarka, M.M. was inaugurated as acting Bangli Regent replacing the Regent Arnawa, Thursday (2/6). The Regent’s functionary will be on duty for six months until the appointment of the regent is decided. Governor of Bali Drs. Dewa Beratha expected that the regent’s functionary could put into effect development and social administration including preserving arts and culture. (BTN/030)

DENPASAR – Sri Rahayu, Deputy Assistant of Standardization Affairs of the Indonesian Tourism and Culture Ministry held a meeting with the Tri Hita Karana team at Bali Travel News (BTN) offices, on Monday (6/6). The meeting was welcomed by Beratha Ashrama, the General Manager of Bali Travel News as well as the Leader of Tri Hita Karana Tourism Awards, the meeting was a compilation of the Tourism and Culture Minister’s Decree about the Diamond awards granted for environment friendly hotels. In future hotel’s will be obliged to obtain one of the certificates for certain aspects, for example, a Green Globe, ISQ 14001 rating (Tri Hita Karana.) (BTN/015)
