2nd Bali Culinary Competition

NUSA DUA – Recently the Kitchen Team of Nikko Bali Resort & Spa proudly won 2 Gold Medals, 6 Silver, and 2 Bronze during the recent “Kompetisi Kuliner Dewata II” (2nd Bali Culinary Competition) organized by IJUMPI – Ikatan Juru Masak Professional Indonesia (Association of Indonesia Chef Professionals), by 143 participants from hotels and tourism institutes competing in 8 categories; Gebogan Janur Decoration, live fish cooking, live chicken cooking, cool food displays, ice carving, butter sculpture and fruit and vegetable carving. Holiday in Bali

KUTA – Ms. Rae-Sita, one of the famous star movies on the 70th decade, held a family reunion and spent their long holiday in Bali very recently. As she loves Bali as a part of tourism destination in Indonesia, she chose one of the greenest hotels in Kuta area – Hotel Santika Beach Bali. She was very impressed with the hotel’s atmosphere, warm and friendly staffs. During her holiday, she also visited some tourist destination in Bali, such as Kintamani & Alas Kedaton. “I’m so proud that the Balinese still keep and respect with their culture in all level of generations,” she said. Help Victims of the Tsunami Disaster

NUSA DUA – Melia Bali Villas & Spa Resort are appealing for donations for victims of the massive underwater earthquake which triggered the largest tsunami tidal wave that wiped out many coastal areas across the South East Asia on 26 Dec. 2004, in which thousands of people were killed or injured, especially in Aceh North Sumatra, Indonesia.
Meliá Bali has organized special help for the victims not only by fund raising but also by the donating of used clothing, blankets, pillows and medicines with staff and In-house guests enthusiastic to donate.
To maximize the fund raising, on the 10 January, Meliá Bali organized a special Buffet Dinner for guests with all money to go to the cause. At the event a painting auction was held to collect more donations. The auction sold 10 of 11 paintings which were auctioned. After all the fund raising was completed Meliá Bali succeeded to raise Rp. 45.000.000 (US$ 4,918) and 11 sacks of used clothes. To allocate the donations, the Red Cross was chosen as the NGO to be used to channel funds collected, meanwhile clothes and other essentials items were distributed by the Bali Hotels Association together with all hotels in Bali.
