Tukik (turtle’s child) releasing at Kuta Beach becomes another interesting attraction. On Tuesday (5/7), 100 tukik releasing able to attract the foreigner, which was modified into a competition named tukik racing.

At the beginning, domestic and foreign tourists were invited by the Kuta Beach Officer to become the ‘mother’ and ‘father’ of each tukik. Next, tourists must name their tukik, so various names appear, such as Bufa, Grovie, etc.
Exactly at 6 pm (LT), guests took their tukik to the beach border. They stood in a row facing the sea behind the determined start line. Another line in front is the finish line for those tukik to crawl and reach the ocean.
“Priii…t”, the whistle has blown. The tukik were released and crawled towards the sea. Applauses are fanatically heard. The girls hysterically yell to support the tukik in reaching the finish line.
A few minutes later, the winner was decided and the Kuta Beach Officer announces the winner and gives the reward. “Three beers for the winner,” said the Chief Officer IGN Tresna who said to BTN that the event was held to promote Bali’s tourism..
Since April to July, about 1.800 turtle’s eggs were saved by Kuta Beach Officers, 500 eggs were hatched and released to the oc ean.(BTN/Sujaya)
