Skateboarding
for Teenages and Children

Skateboard contest which has been held by
PT. Volcom Indonesia since 2001 in Jakarta,
is now popular in Bogor and Bandung (West
Java), Surabaya (East Java) and Bali. Thus,
this year serial contest which started on
30 January will take place in Yogyakarta
(1st sequel), 2nd sequel in Kuta (25 June)
exactly on Kuta Carnival 2005, and Final
on 25 September in Digelar di Kemang Skate
Park, Jakarta.
The 2nd sequel will present in different
formats with “best trick” system
which is 6 skaters competing together within
10 minutes, where each ‘heat’
will select 2 best skaters who are entitled
to pass to the next round.
Marketing Manager PT. Volcom Indonesia,
Pra Fajarrini explained that this new format
is very productive and importantly designed
to wipe out skater’s nervousness, so
they will perform their top performances
to try and become best of the best. “This
format causes all kids to be unafraid to
do their tricks, because skaters will have
10 minutes to do their best,” he said.
The Skateboard Contest at the beach border
of Kuta Beach is participated by 99 skaters
from Indonesia (Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya,
Malang, Padang and Bali), Malaysia and America,
consisting of 54 skaters of novice level,
25 skaters of Intermediate level and 20
skaters of amateur level.
Each sequel will decide the 4 best skaters
from each category and rewarded by cash
and Volcom products. At final round in September
will decide ‘The Best of The Year’
from each category which is the skater with
the biggest accumulation score during year.
The 2nd sequel in Kuta decide Rino Herman
(Padang – West Sumatera) as ‘Best
