Denpasar, In the City
Uluwatu Handmade Balinese Lace
Specially Providing Ladies Wear

Are you a fashionista woman? If so, just come to shops of Uluwatu Handmade Balinese Lace that specializes in woman wear for upper than 25 years. Factory office located at 59 Jalan Tondano Sanur provides a wide range of fashion with hundreds of designs like casual wear, pyjamas, formal wear, long-sleeved kebaya, top, dress, skirt, pont, bed linen (pillow, blouse), complete tablecloth and certainly many more. However, one thing should be bore in mind that all products of Uluwatu are made skilfully by hand.

Women from this “island of artists” have always produced extraordinarily lovely textiles for temple ceremonies and dance costumes. When in the 1930’s they turned their traditional craft skills to lace, they mastered techniques, which were fast disappearing elsewhere. For over 20 years, Uluwatu – Handmade Balinese Lace has led the way in preserving and developing these fine skills. Now Uluwatu presents something very special: sophisticated stylish clothing and linen featuring hand made lace that compares to the best lace anywhere. Most laces available in the world, even here in Indonesia, are produced by electric and computer-guided machines. Uluwatu lace is still stretched on bamboo hoops and sewn by hand on foot-powered machines. Thread ends and edges are closely trimmed by hand, and all finishing is inspected and re-inspected many times.
A single item may take five days or more to complete. If you take a few minutes to compare lace from Uluwatu with cheaper copies, you will quickly feel the difference in quality of materials, workmanship, and finishing. Our pieces are signed by the artists who made them. This pride is something you will feel in the lace.
Uluwatu Handmade Balinese Lace also has boutique spreading throughout Bali—mostly located in Kuta (Jalan Legian, Jalan Bakung Sari and Jalan Pantai Kuta). Should you currently stay in Sanur area, simply come to ours on Jalan Danau Tamblingan. Or if you happen to stay around Ubud, you may make a visit to Jalan Monkey Forest. There you can find the product of Uluwatu Handmade Balinese lace. We also open outlets at some hotels like at Grand Hyatt Bali, Nusa Dua and Conrad Hotel at Tanjung Benoa, Nusa Dua.
According to Heru Widyanto, Manager of Uluwatu, those shops are deliberately provided at tourist resorts because the products are indeed intended for tourists. Nevertheless, many domestic tourists and the locals also put interest on it. “Our consumers consists of 80% foreigners and the remaining is locals,” he said while adding that products of Uluwatu also exported amounting to some 500 to 1000 pieces per month.
Made Suti, Marketing Officer of Uluwatu, added that tourists that purchase the product not only those that stay at hotel but also many others that make transit in Bali like this. European guests like best the product of Uluwatu, then followed by Japanese, Taiwanese and Korean. “We offer standard price,” Suti remarked.(BTN/015)
