Exalted
Ritual at Sadha Temple
Coinciding with the
celebration of Kuningan Day, 15 October
2005, karya agung (exalted ritual) will
also be performed at Sadha Temple. It is
one of the Kahyangan Jagat Purusadha Temples
(public temple) at Customary Village of
Kapal, Mengwi sub district, Badung Regency.
This exalt ritual will be performed for
its second time after the first one held
150 years ago. According to information
from reliable sources, the first one was
held around 1855.
The
ritual procession of the second performance
in 2005 commenced on the 6 July and the
summit will be held on the 15th of October.
Purusadha Temple constitutes an archaeological
relic that is frequently visited by foreign
tourists from Germany and Netherlands. The
temple is located some 10 km north of Denpasar.
Some important phases of rituals performed
are Ngingsiran Ida Bethara (18 September),
Nunas Tirtha or appealing for holy water
(26/9), Ngingsah and Nyengker (27/9), Pemelaspas
Agung, Mendem Pedagingan and Pecaruan (2/10),
Nunas Tirtha at Sad Kahyangan Temple across
Bali (6/10), Mapepada and Mapekelem at Mount
Agung (7/10), Petapakan Ida Bethara all
over Kapal village attend the ritual at
Purusadha Temple (8/10), Tawur Panca Wali
Krama exorcism rite (9/10), Melasti or purificatory
rite to the beach (12/10), Ngenteg Linggih
(15/10), mesineb (end of ritual) on 27 October.
During the ritual, numerous art performances
will be staged. For those who would
like to have a closer look at the procession
of this exalted ritual are advised to put
on Balinese costume, said AA Gede
Agung, the Regent of Badung who is also
the Chairman of the organizing committee
