and Angklung Keklentangan
Competition
DENPASAR
The 99th Puputan Badung Anniversary
held a Baleganjur and Angklung Keklentangan
competition at Puputan Badung Square,
Denpasar. This event was between the
8 9 September 2005 and joined
by 13 general sekaa baleganjur, 13-sekaa
baleganjur from students of SMP and
8 SMA. For the angklung keklentangan
competition, 4 sekaa competed.. Assessment
was divided into 3 divisions, namely
at Udayana street, in front of Natour
Hotel Bali Jl Veteran and in front
of the Jagatnata temple east side
Puputan Square Badung. Trophy and
cash money of Rp 45.250.000 was awarded.

Bharata
Natyam Dance Workshop
DENPASAR
To further introduce Indias
classic dances especially from southern
India a Bharata Natyam Dance
workshop was held at the Indian Cultural
Center (ICC) Bali at Jl. Raya Puputan
Renon on Thursday (8/9). This first
workshop attracted many people, and
students of ISI Denpasar. Keynote
speaker at the workshop was Ms. Neila
Sathyalingam, Artistic Director from
Apsara Arts, Singapura and Ms. Kavitha
Krishnan from Apsara Asia, Singapura.
Other Indian classical dances were
also performed at the 9th Nusa Dua

Polio
Immunisation at Badung
BADUNG
On Tuesday (30/8) mothers
in Bali were invited to take their
children up to 59 months to the
PIN (Banjar, Hospital, Clinic and
Airport) to receive polio immunisation.

Discovery Kartika Plaza Prepares for
Benchmarking
KUTA
On Sept 1, 2005, management
and green team members of Discovery
Kartika Plaza Hotel, Kuta participated
in training on the introduction to
benchmarking the Green Globe 21 certification.
Twenty managers and green team members,
including the GM of the hotel, Mr.
Urs Klee, participated. Raka Dalem
a spokesperson for the group explained
the benefits and preparation that
is needed in benchmarking level (B
level). Commenting on Discovery Kartika
Plazas participation in the
Green Globe 21 program, Mr. Urs Klee
said that this is part of the hotels
commitment in looking after the environment,
for sustainable tourism. Meanwhile,
at the second meeting on September
08, 2005, preparation was focused
on setting up environmental and social
policies while making preparations
for topics to be discussed later on.

Statue
Competition
NUSA
DUA Ten sculptors joined a
statue competition held in conjunction
with this years 9th Nusa Dua
Festival (FND). One of contestants
from Guang village, Sukawati Cokorda
Raka said, if statues are made from
soft stony soil get more attention
and all will be sold. In the picture
Cokorda Raka is working with stony
soil. Cok Raka that produces contemporary
work, usually exhibits in foreign
countries likes Japan and Europe.
