Yeh Gangga Beach and Its Activities

For residents of Tabanan, Yeh Gangga Beach is distinctly valuable. Various activities over and over again carried out at the beach located at Sudimara Village, some 40 km west of Denpasar. Every day, we can see traditional fishermen catching fish with modest tools. In the meantime, people also often hold ritual activities here from nooks and crannies of Tabanan.

Numerous young couple throng this black sandy beach by sunset (around 16:00) on holidays. Some just sit down on beach side, while others have a promenade along the beach. By children, Yeh Gangga is selected as their place to play football and some other take it advantage for practising inner power.
According to one local fishermen, he seldom sees tourists surfing. “Probably, the size of wave is frequently uncertain,” he says while adding that the waves were so huge last April until it led to abrasion. “Even the water of the sea had proceeded towards beach’s lip.”
Based on the record of Bali Travel News, there lies some hotels like Bali Wisata Bungalows, Villa Waka Gangga and Gangga Sari Cottage. “We choose the hotel location here because it is tranquil and undisturbed by souvenir hawkers,” says Ginna H., owner of Bali Bungalows.
In the morning, tourists can take a promenade on beach side in completely quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Easterly, they can walk till reaching Tanah Lot Temple, while westerly to Pasut Beach. In the afternoon, sunset view is fascinating, the more so if it coincides with ritual procession performed by the local villagers. “Yeh Gangga Beach is really unique,” says the owner of the hotel that was established in 1990.
It is said that Bali Wisata Bungalows has 12 rooms. Amenities available are like swimming pools, restaurants and gazebo. With the room rate at IDR 180,000 to 350,000 per night, German, Swiss, French, Dutch, Italian and American guests remarkably favour this hotel. They stay here from 2 days up to a month.
East of Yeh Gangga nestles Kedungu Beach. This black sandy beach has prodigious waves. According to Ketut Sandia alias Nang Suandewi, many tourists like surfing here. “They usually do surfing from morning up to 1.00pm ,” he said.
Activities of fishermen on this beach is focused on catching lobsters. To make their work easier, they commonly employ ski boards. “Our lobster catch is ordered by some seafood restaurants and numerous hotels in Kuta,” he adds. (BTN/015)
