Les
Village, Tejakula District, Buleleng located
at North Bali, it about 78 km of Denpasar.
The village has beautiful beach with coral
reef and rare fish species.
In
the past, the people of Les Village caught
fish by potassium (explosive
material). It caused the coral reef and
many kind fish species to become destroyed.
But since 2000, they become conscious with
the important thing to keep everlasting
the environment through coral conservation
In 2002, they did not continue to use potassium
to catch fish, but a fish net to do it.
They also begin to do coral breeding by
(coral cutting).After three years
of using this method, the coral become fertile
again and in good condition, said
Cipto, he is a LSM figure who cares about
the coral. He added nowadays beaches that
spread along Tejakula Village have good
coral and many kind fishes species.
The life style of society there has changed.
At the beginning they just caught fish but
now they try to attract tourists, especially
those who tend to do diving and marine tours.
They also formed a fishermens organization
Soansari that supports the eco-tourism
program which is safe for the environment.
At Les village has officially PT. Bahtra
Lestari which organizing fish breeding and
to export them abroad.
To celebrated world tourism day on, 27 September,
at Les Village was held an activity to developing
marine tour. It is hope it can develop Indonesia
as a marine destination, especially on diving
activity, because Indonesia rich of natural
resources especially on the sea.
To realize it Bali Tourism Department make
cooperation with Bali Tourism Office all
of Bali and also Bali Tourism Board made
a dialog entitle Community Base Marine
Eco Tourism. Performs as keynote speaker
in its dialog The Ex-Minister of Tourism
and Culture, I Gede Ardika and The Chairman
of Bali Tourism Board, Ida Bagus Sudibya.

Puputan Badung Hike Race

Team of Northern Wangaya I with serial number
1 was recorded as the first team entering
finish line on Puputan Badung Hike Race
on Friday (16/9). Then, followed by the
team of SMU PGRI Denpasar II (06) and SMU
Dharma Praja (07). The next are SMA Widya
Brata (08), SMA 1 Mengwi (04), SMA Negeri
1 Southern Kuta (02), Mengwi Customary Village
(10), SMA Negeri Kuta (18), SMP Negeri 1
Mengwi (05) and SMA Negeri II Mengwi. Meanwhile,
SMP Mengwi was the first womens team
entering the finish line. Hike race held
in relation to the 99th anniversary of Puputan
Badung covered the distance of 28 km. Start
line was in front of Margarana Memorial
Park (Tabanan) then proceeded to Belayu
Denkayu Mengwi Beringkit
Kapal Lukluk Perang
Tegal Darmasaba Peguyangan
Jalan A Yani Jalan Kartini
Jalan Nakula Jalan Veteran
and finish at Puputan Badung Square. There
were 20 jury posts that assessed in terms
of speed, time, wholeness of team, uniformity,
smartness of clothing and marching discipline.
This annual race was participated by 73
teams. Each consisted of General Group numbering
13 teams (12 mens and 1 womens),
SMAs (Senior High School) Student
Group 26 teams (14 mens and 12 womens)
and SLTPs (Junior High School) Student
Group 34 teams (17 mens and 17 womens).
In addition, it was also taken part by honorary
teams (6) comprising the executives, division
heads, Dharma Wanita organization, members
of Badung and Denpasar Municipality House
of Representatives. Excepting cash, it was
also provided with 2 pieces of Puputan Badung
kris dagger for the men and womens
champions. First champion was awarded IDR
5 million, the second IDR 4 million and
the third 3.75 million. While, for subsidiary
champion I, II and III respectively got
IDR 3.5 million, IDR 3.25 million and IDR
3 million for each criterion. Transport
fee was also extended to each participant
amounting to IDR 300,000. Total cash competed
for in this race numbered in IDR 135 million.
