Refreshing
Visit To Neka Museum
Andi Malarangeng,
the spokesman of Indonesian President was
satisfied when he goes visit to Neka Museum
in Ubud. He got explanation about the museum
from the owner of Neka Museum, Pande Wayan
Suteja Neka.
His
good impression has wrote on the guest book
with nice sentence below:
Indonesia needs many people like Mr
Neka. Indonesian and Balinese culture will
everlasting at this museum, and give more
chance to the people to create the good
one.
Andi Malarangeng didnt come alone
to the Museum he come with some ministers
from Kabinet Indonesia Bersatu
such as Jero Wacik (Cultural and Tourism
Minister), Marie Pangestu (Trade Minister),
Andung Nitimiharja (Industry Minister),
Hatta Rajasa (Transportation Minister),
Kapolri Jenderal Polisi Sutanto, and Abdul
Rahman Saleh (Attorney General).
State officials duties seemed rather strained,
even more after the tragedy in Kuta and
Jimbaran on 1 October 2005. So their visit
to the museum was a refreshing effort after
involved in the cabinet meeting at Tampaksing
Palace with Indonesian President SBY.
In order to neutralize their strain, some
ministers and state officials on 3 October
made a visit to Museum Neka. Their visit
was not planted before, but their friendly
appearances can changed the situation. Even
more when Suteja Neka came and accompanied
them to every room that made the situation
become relaxed .
They seemed very interested with the explanation
about vision and mission of Neka Museum
and also some stories about several paintings
which are decorated there. For approximately
a half hour the group enjoyed thousands
interesting paintings like classical Balinese
paintings, modern painting works by Indonesian
and foreigners maestros and finally
leaving the museum with fresh minds and
bright faces. (BTN/Gung Man)
Eleven Painters in Exhibition
at Renon
Recently
there are some painters or community painters
doing exhibitions in several places in Denpasar
City. Generally they are the younger painters,
and come from several communities either
they have graduated from art institution
or they learn to painting by autodidact.
Basically they just want to show their works
and spirit to the public.
They
never think where they will conduct exhibitions,
how to make room circulation, air circulation,
and also light design. In addition they
usually neglect the principal thing on the
exhibition like the catalog that contains
information about painters identities and
also which one is their work. According
to them joining a temporary or non-temporary
group is the important thing rather than
a technical one.
This situation should be reinvestigated,
because it will make their work products
not too qualify. Actually their works have
good qualities. In addition visitors who
come to visit the exhibition want to know
about their personal data and also their
faces and it can be solved by preparing
the exhibition catalog.
This impression shown at the exhibition
at Bajra Sandhi building, Renon, was held
by eleven painters groups. They were Putu
Sayojana Pratama, N. Huda, Wayan Sukada,
Ngurah Astawa, Nyoman Moko, Yoyo Mastra,
June, Dewa Made Merta, De Rozari Frank,
Gusti Putu Tirta, Ngurah Ketut Dana.
The exhibition was held between the 23 September
23 October and was inappropriate
as a group exhibition. It can be shown from
the unorganized system of displaying works
which seemed not too interesting.
Some interesting works by De Rozary Frank
that show a pen on the paper painting. This
work is not too spectacular, but because
it is made by a talented artist it looks
like unique and interesting. At least through
several exhibitions and continually in painting
it can make the quality of the product better
than before. The technical ability also
focused by N. Huda on his works concept
of expressionism. Huda looks very capable
on the technique of painting. Some painters
performed their abstract styles that are
becoming popular in Bali
Totally the exhibition of Kelompok
Sebelas (eleven painters group) is
an interesting one, but because there are
some principal problems, it made the work
not too interesting. (BTN/Gung Man)
Between
Body and Soul
Art
is the great liberator of the human body
and soul. This is especially evident in
the creations of these five remarkable artists
belonging to the Senang Hati
or Happy Heart Foundation. Through art they
have risen above their physical challenges
to express themselves with joy and beauty.
All came to the arts on different paths
and at different periods in their lives.
Three, Putu Suriati, Wayan Damai and Wayan
Tono, would begin their careers in their
early teens under the guidance of traditional
Balinese artists. Holis Sudin, on the other
hand is a true autodidact, who has taught
himself sculpture, printing, painting and
computer design. In contrast Dewa Gede Adnyana
attended the Indonesian Institute of Art
in Denpasar for more then seven years.
Damai whose artistict ability had been nurtured
in the traditional arts, would later travel
to Yogyakarta in Java to study realistic
painting. Though their styles and medium
may vary, these artist are united in their
Balinese heritage and the challenges they
needed to overcome to establish themselves
as successful artists.
They have participated in local, national
and international exhibitions. They are
also united in their debt to the Senang
Hati Community Center, which has selflessly
striven for the use of art, not only as
a therapy, but also as a tool of personal
empowerment. The exhibition of art by Yayasan
Senang Hati opened October 17 November
18, 2005 atu Genesha Gallery, Four Seasons
Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay. Open daily
from 10 am- 6 pm. Enjoying their special
creations!
