Gusmao visited the location of the
Bomb blast at Cafe Nyoman and Cafe
Menega Jimbaran, Badung on Tuesday
(11/10). Xanana with wife and two
children presented sympathy for the
tragedy. He felt sad on hearing of

Awareness
for Tourism Recovery Dialogue
DENPASAR
Gen. Mangku Pastika the head
of Bali Police and Raka Dalem from
Research Centre for Culture and
Tourism at Udayana University and
Putu Sudiarta from Bali Government
Tourism Office were invited to joint
an interactive dialogue about awareness
for recovery of tourism in Bali
after the Jimbaran and Kuta Square
bomb blasts on Bali TV Denpasar
on October 11. Many questions and
input was raised by Bali TV viewers,
and most of them were about how
to prevent further attacks, which
could be devastating for the tourism
industry in Bali. Mangku Pastika
pointed out that the police needed
cooperation from any stakeholders
in catching the suspects and uncover
bomb syndicates which threaten lives
of many innocent people across the

Bharata
Muni in Mexico City
MAXICO
- Balinese artists that belong to
the Bharata Muni art troupe,
Sading, Badung visite the Mexico City
(25 September-8 October). Dr. I Nyoman
Wenten chairs this art mission with
a dance instructor, choreographer
and composer I Nyoman Cerita, SST,
MFA and gamelan instructor I Ketut
Sukanta.
Apart from introducing Balinese arts
in Mexico, this performance is also
meant as tourism promotion and gratitude
expression of the Indonesian people
to Mexico that has extended assistance
to the survivors of natural catastrophes
in Indonesia. This group tour
program carries the theme Gracias
México or thanking Mexico,
said Nyoman Wenten who has taught
the art subject for tens of years
in the United States.
Wenten said, the visit was in response
to an the invitation from the Indonesian
ambassador to Mexico, Ahwil Lutan.
The group consists of 40 personnel
and staged in México City and

Invited
to Give Training
YOGYAKARTA - Agung Suryawan and Raka
Dalem from Bali Greenery who are also
members of THK Tourism Awards team
were invited to give training on sustainable
tourism, especially on certification
of sustainable tourism in Melia Purosani
Hotel, Yogyakarta on October 7-8.
This training was undertaken for preparation
of the hotel in renewal of its international
certification which will be undertaken
next month. Agung Suryawan who is
also the secretary of Bali Tourism
Board said that it is good to see
that more and more operations are
involved in sustainable tourism certification.
This will help us in conservation,
he said. Meanwhile, Raka Dalem who
is also the head of ecotourism study
group from Udayana University, Bali,
said that he is really happy to see
the hotel progress in implementing
its environmental management system
(EMS) prior to the next assessment.
