Role
of Buana Ukir Studio in Bangli Regency
Recently, the growth
and development of arts in Bangli Regency
seems to be remarkably pleasing. However,
compared to other regencies in Bali, the
art activity of Bangli inhabitants needs
improving and encouraging to make its echo
reaches every village nook and cranny,
said the graduate of Buana Ukir Dance Studio,
I Dewa Gede Jana Loka.
For
that reason, the Buana Ukir Bangli Dance
Studio that situated at Sulahan Village,
Susut District supports the program to increase
the number of centres of art exercise in
Bangli. Centre of art exercise can
be carried out by the studio, customary
village or hamlet, said the man who
was born 42 years ago.
He exemplified the Buana Ukir Studio. Originally,
the studio was a forum where to share ideas
for young artists of Bangli. In the long
run, its activity changed into a studio
that was more permanent and its activity
in art had a considerable role in Bangli.
This studio has given contribution to local
inhabitants, especially children and students
in order they more appreciate their culture
continually.
Studio that was established in 1987, up
to now still exists. This matter is inseparable
from the commitment of all members that
number 41 persons. Then, it obtained positive
response from the community, particularly
in the presentation of a variety of dances
at tourist centres in Bangli that makes
the name of the studio well known. Ultimately,
cooperation is made with the hotel and restaurant
side to regularly perform numerous kinds
of art in the Kintamani area.
Jana Loka who is also an artist and art
instructor has been knowledgeable for so
long at various kinds of art supervision
in Bangli Regency. Still, I want more
people to care about art. I am even immensely
ready to lend a hand with the ngayah (devotional
service) principle, he uttered enthusiastically.
Expectation of Jana Loka is moderately reasonable.
Potential of art in Bangli Regency is prodigious.
There are the art of dancing, playing gamelan,
painting and varied types of craft that
spread throughout the entire villages. The
satisfying thing is that Barong Dance and
calonarang drama are close to the people
and favoured by several groups of Bangli
community. For that reason, according to
Jana Loka, this should be upheld and given
exceptional attention so this art can hold
out forever. For this purpose, we
are necessary to supervise and involve young
generation, he said. (BTN/Suka)
