Bali Government
Pledges IDR 278.6 Billion
According
to Bali Tourism Board Chairman Mr Bagus
Sudibia, the Government has given the green
light to support Bali with IDR278.6 billion
(US$27.5 million) for security systems,
an economic task force and ongoing supervision
of the security programmes.
Bali
Police are working more seriously than ever.
They have done a lot to raise the overall
security of the island. In addition, based
on the request of the President of Indonesia,
the Indonesian military are also taking
part, working side by side with the Indonesian
police. They have reactivated the Kaster
(Territorial Command) system.
With this Kaster system, the military
can cover all territory under one command
structure, which is especially good
for supervision and evaluation programmes.
Indonesia is a large country, whose administration
is divided into Central Government,
Provincial Government, Kabupaten Government,
Kecamatan Government and Village Heads.
The military command is similarly arranged:
an overall head of Indonesian military;
Pangdam, heads of military in the provinces;
Kodim, heads of Kabupaten military; Koramil,
heads of Kecamatan military; and Babinsa military
heads at the village level.
The Bali Government has also put in place
a more strict system to monitor newcomers
to the island. Domestic arrivals should
be registered within three days otherwise
there is a penalty. Anyone who rents
out a room has to report in information,
which is then input onto a database.
Furthermore, all hotels, restaurants, shops,
malls and offices must now be fitted
out with closed circuit television.

Mr Bagus Sudibia, the Government has given
the green light to support Bali with IDR278.6
