Dancing to Pay the Tuition Fee

Recently, situation of the world economy is rather poor, other than being caused by the impact of Bali bomb, also made many people lose their jobs as companies where they worked has gone bankrupt. In addition, those who worked in tourism sector encountered similar destiny because the number of tourists visits to Bali has dropped as well. Many people experienced this whereas they should support their family, either for consumption and school tuition for their children.

Some students of Indonesia Institute of Arts, Denpasar seemed to undergo this condition. There was student whose parent meeting employment discharge, while others should discontinue their line of work because they do not have customers anymore. Definitely, their study gets disturbed. They did not even have money to earn their daily life, much less to suffice the tuition fee where they should borrow here and there.
Some of them then coalesced and agreed to find out the finance by themselves. The solution was by establishing an art troupe because they were students of art institution and aspirants of Balinese artist of time to come. Then, they divided their role within the group in which some played music, danced and some others played the role as choreographers. Their group was then named Gases Bali Studio that situated at 213 Jalan Raya Sesetan, South Denpasar.
According to Komang Indra Wirawan who plays the role as group head, their group worked on traditional and contemporary dance. He expected the understanding of several parties and was willing to lend a hand to the group by inviting them to dance. “I do expect that there will be hotels that would like to contract us or give the opportunity to show off our prowess at dancing,” he said seriously. “Accordingly, aside from keeping on performing our creativity in dancing, we could also suffice our tuition fee,” he added.
Though members of this group are from several places, but on particular days they consistently come together in a place to perform exercise. Finance of this exercise in the form of consumption is on their joint account. Its figure is not too much, however it is very significant for them. That’s why the number of contributions among the members is different. “If some members happen to have more money, they will pay more, while if any others that have no money so they will not be necessary to pay,” said Komang while laughing.
For Komang and his group, the cost of a presentation has really been decided in a fixed-cost, however it is still negotiable. “We’d like to give our best and build a good business relationship, too. So, in this case we will be flexible to reach the agreement,” he uttered seriously. He also said that there were some non-dramatic dances that are on offer apart from group performance. Amongst those dances are Legong Mini, Panyembrama, Cendrawasih, Oleg Tamulilingan, Kebyar Duduk, Puspa Wresti, Jauk Manis, Pendet, Taruna Jaya, Baris, Bondres and some contemporary dances.
