Made Diksa Wimona
A Balinese Persevering Figure
Creativity
in product development and maintaining the
quality at all times and endless communication
to customers are strategies played by Ir.
Made Diksa Winoma. Denpasar-born in 1970
admits that he has initiated his business
since eight years ago (1997).
This father of two children set about his
career in business by selling incense stick,
from one shop to another. By provisions
of great enthusiasm and severe intention,
the alumnus of National Institute of Technology,
Malang, together with his wife now accomplish
to develop his production by making several
items of products like aromatic incense,
essential oil, massage oil, aromatic candle
and gift products.
Prior to setting up new business, Made Diksa
once worked at a vehicle company in Magelang
as product designer. Then, he moved to Bali
and appointed Branch Manager at a motorbike
company. However, his strong interest to
be self-contained, finally led him to deeply
involve in aromatherapy business.
His product is not only marketed in Bali
and Indonesia but also have been exported
to Singapore and Italy. Its marketing concept
is not so difficult. Customer just makes
an order via e-mail or telephone and within
certain period of time, the products have
been dispatched. I also make a cooperation
with the Indonesian Embassy in Los Angeles
(USA), Japan and am now sounding out a great
opportunity in East European region,
he said on being met by Bali Travel News
in his office on Jalan Diponegoro, Denpasar.
At the moment, his private business develops
with the assistance of 16 permanent employees.
For the marketing of his aromatherapy product,
the agents customarily send the order in
advance. Then, these agents resell the products
of Made Diksa in the market. I never
provide discounted rate to customers, yet
I put priority on consumers satisfaction
at all times and make an effort to find
out new opportunities for the progress of
my business, he said.

Hadi
Taryoto
Bali Destination Marketing Management
Among
the tourism industry of Bali, the name Hadi
Taryoto is not an unknown figure anymore.
The man, Cirebon-born, West Java took action
on his career path in tourism domain from
the lowest level. During the period of 1966-1974,
he worked at Housekeeping Department, Hotel
Bali Beach Intercontinental (now The Grand
Bali Beach) until his ultimate position
as Executive Housekeeper. Therefore,
I live and grew up in Bali, he said
when met Bali Travel News lately.
For that reason, he admitted that he appreciably
loved Bali and at all times endeavoured
to give his contribution for the sake of
the advancement of Bali tourism industry.
This father of two sons is recorded to once
hold the position of General Manager of
Pertamina Cottages, Bali (1974-1989). Then,
he moved to Hotel Division Manager of PT
Patra Jasa Indonesia, Jakarta (1989-1990)
of which job is to manage the operation
of Patra Jasa Hotel throughout Indonesia.
Finally, since 1990 up to now, he has been
appointed Managing Director of Hotel Bali
Rani and concurrently the owner of the hotel
that is located in Kuta.
As a matter of fact, he did not talk non-sense.
This can be proved by his active involvement
in several organizations. He once served
as Chairman of the Indonesia Hotel and Restaurant
Association (IHRA) Bali Chapter (1983-1986);
Chairman of the Indonesia Hotel Experts
Association (1990-1995); Chairman of PATA
Bali Chapter (1995-1997); Chairman of Tuban
Hotel & Resort Association (1998-1999)
and since 2003 he has been re-entrusted
to be Chairman of the Indonesia Hotel Expert
Association, Bali. Another position is Training
Division Head of South Kuta Beach Business
Association (SKKBA) since 1993 and up to
now he still becomes the Advisory Board
of IHRA Bali Chapter and BTB.
When being asked about how was the prospect
of Bali tourism, Hadi Taryoto who frequently
attended several seminars on international
tourism replied that tourism industry should
be managed by good and professional destination
marketing management. This opinion was once
proposed in the workshop Repositioning
Bali Tourism at Conrad Hotel not long
ago.
According to him, many stakeholders currently
do their own thing. It is necessary to market
Bali integrally, professionally and sustainable.
Nowadays, Bali has a new management
of Bali Tourism Board (BTB). I hope that
this organization is capable of coordinating
tourism problems comprehensively and professionally
so Bali will not far left behind by other
neighbouring countries, explained
the man whose hobby is swimming and tennis.
He added that common obstacles faced by
the organization in order to enable the
coordination appropriately with government
are financial matters. For that purpose,
it is expected that the government and Bali
House of Representatives care for implementing
the result of the workshop mentioned above
so financial problems and destination marketing
coordination with government (Bali Government
Tourist Office) can be resolved. BTB
and Bali Government Tourist Office should
take this role, explained Hadi who
was preparing his successor, namely his
son, who is now occupying the position of
Resident Manager of Hotel Bali Rani. This
hotel has been initiated since 1985, originally
had 50 rooms and these days has increased
to 105 rooms with various supporting facilities
like spas, swimming pool and the like.
