I Made Diksa Wimona
A Balinese Persevering Figure

Creativity in product development and maintaining the quality at all times and endless communication to customers are strategies played by Ir. Made Diksa Winoma. Denpasar-born in 1970 admits that he has initiated his business since eight years ago (1997).
This father of two children set about his career in business by selling incense stick, from one shop to another. By provisions of great enthusiasm and severe intention, the alumnus of National Institute of Technology, Malang, together with his wife now accomplish to develop his production by making several items of products like aromatic incense, essential oil, massage oil, aromatic candle and gift products.
Prior to setting up new business, Made Diksa once worked at a vehicle company in Magelang as product designer. Then, he moved to Bali and appointed Branch Manager at a motorbike company. However, his strong interest to be self-contained, finally led him to deeply involve in aromatherapy business.
His product is not only marketed in Bali and Indonesia but also have been exported to Singapore and Italy. Its marketing concept is not so difficult. Customer just makes an order via e-mail or telephone and within certain period of time, the products have been dispatched. “I also make a cooperation with the Indonesian Embassy in Los Angeles (USA), Japan and am now sounding out a great opportunity in East European region,” he said on being met by Bali Travel News in his office on Jalan Diponegoro, Denpasar.
At the moment, his private business develops with the assistance of 16 permanent employees. For the marketing of his aromatherapy product, the agents customarily send the order in advance. Then, these agents resell the products of Made Diksa in the market. “I never provide discounted rate to customers, yet I put priority on consumer’s satisfaction at all times and make an effort to find out new opportunities for the progress of my business,” he said.

Hadi Taryoto
Bali Destination Marketing Management

Among the tourism industry of Bali, the name Hadi Taryoto is not an unknown figure anymore. The man, Cirebon-born, West Java took action on his career path in tourism domain from the lowest level. During the period of 1966-1974, he worked at Housekeeping Department, Hotel Bali Beach Intercontinental (now The Grand Bali Beach) until his ultimate position as Executive Housekeeper. “Therefore, I live and grew up in Bali,” he said when met Bali Travel News lately.
For that reason, he admitted that he appreciably loved Bali and at all times endeavoured to give his contribution for the sake of the advancement of Bali tourism industry. This father of two sons is recorded to once hold the position of General Manager of Pertamina Cottages, Bali (1974-1989). Then, he moved to Hotel Division Manager of PT Patra Jasa Indonesia, Jakarta (1989-1990) of which job is to manage the operation of Patra Jasa Hotel throughout Indonesia. Finally, since 1990 up to now, he has been appointed Managing Director of Hotel Bali Rani and concurrently the owner of the hotel that is located in Kuta.
As a matter of fact, he did not talk non-sense. This can be proved by his active involvement in several organizations. He once served as Chairman of the Indonesia Hotel and Restaurant Association (IHRA) Bali Chapter (1983-1986); Chairman of the Indonesia Hotel Experts Association (1990-1995); Chairman of PATA Bali Chapter (1995-1997); Chairman of Tuban Hotel & Resort Association (1998-1999) and since 2003 he has been re-entrusted to be Chairman of the Indonesia Hotel Expert Association, Bali. Another position is Training Division Head of South Kuta Beach Business Association (SKKBA) since 1993 and up to now he still becomes the Advisory Board of IHRA Bali Chapter and BTB.
When being asked about how was the prospect of Bali tourism, Hadi Taryoto who frequently attended several seminars on international tourism replied that tourism industry should be managed by good and professional destination marketing management. This opinion was once proposed in the workshop ‘Repositioning Bali Tourism’ at Conrad Hotel not long ago.
According to him, many stakeholders currently do their own thing. It is necessary to market Bali integrally, professionally and sustainable. “Nowadays, Bali has a new management of Bali Tourism Board (BTB). I hope that this organization is capable of coordinating tourism problems comprehensively and professionally so Bali will not far left behind by other neighbouring countries,” explained the man whose hobby is swimming and tennis.
He added that common obstacles faced by the organization in order to enable the coordination appropriately with government are financial matters. For that purpose, it is expected that the government and Bali House of Representatives care for implementing the result of the workshop mentioned above so financial problems and destination marketing coordination with government (Bali Government Tourist Office) can be resolved. “BTB and Bali Government Tourist Office should take this role,” explained Hadi who was preparing his successor, namely his son, who is now occupying the position of Resident Manager of Hotel Bali Rani. This hotel has been initiated since 1985, originally had 50 rooms and these days has increased to 105 rooms with various supporting facilities like spas, swimming pool and the like.

Jamal Hussain, General Manager of Hard Rock Hotel Bali is pleased to announce the appointment of Rohaizad Puteh, a Singaporean national, as Director of Sales & Marketing of Hard Rock Hotel Bali.
His impressive background spans 25 years in the international hospitality arena. Prior to moving to Bali Rohaizad was the Director of Business Development at Pan Pacific Hotel Singapore. He has previously held other senior positions at Orchard Parade Hotel, Albert Court Hotel and Marina Mandarin Hotel in Singapore.
Rohaizad or “Zad”, as he is better known to friends and colleagues in the industry, is an avid golfer and a father of two.
