Waiting
for Investors
Air Paradise to
Fly Again Shortly
Air
Paradise International (API) that serves
the international route from Bali, has ceased
its operation for an indefinite time. This
decision was taken following the small number
of tourists coming to Bali after the recent
bomb explosions in Jimbaran-Kuta.
Managing
Director of API, Kadek Wiranatha, said that
the bomb blasts on 1 October 2005 inflicted
the cancellation of passengers from Australia
to Bali reaching over 12,000 seats. In the
first week after the bomb, the number of
passengers on API, which slogan reads, Bali
is Our Home, was unoccupied.
A number of efforts have been undertaken
like reducing flight schedules, however,
the situation progressivelydid not improve.
We apologize, but our efforts could
not meet this expectation, said Kadek
in a press conference prior to shutting
down the operation.
Passengers who are in possession of tickets
on Air Paradise will be transferred to Qantas
in Bali or in Australia. Qantas would convey
passengers of Air Paradise from October
to 10 December. Meanwhile, the destiny of
the 350 employees belong to API will be
discussed in a family atmosphere.
Having received a severe setback, API will
keep on making efforts for recover. The
company will invite investors willing to
bring in fresh capital for the operation
of the airline company that is headquartered
in Bali. Hopefully, we can revive
shortly so we can participate and support
Bali tourism that we very much love,
Kadek said. Air Paradise has four Airbus
aircraft serving flights from Bali to several
cities in Australia and South Korea. It
has been in operation since February 2003
flying to five cities in Australia, (Brisbane,
Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne),
then, to Osaka (Japan), Seoul (South Korea)
and Bangkok (Thailand). Air Paradise
International came into being on account
of the courage of a Balinese who was aware
that air transportation is a highly important
factor in supporting Bali as tourist destination,
he added. (BTN/015)
