Bali Zoo Park, Learning to Care For Fauna

To assist the program of government in preserving the rare animals in Bali, Ir. Anak Agung Gede Putra founded the ‘Bali Zoo Park’. This park is expected to become a medium of education, conservation, introduction and entertainment for the local community, domestic and foreign tourists. “Except for that, Bali Zoo Park is an alternative tourist object that supplements tourist attractions existing in Bali,” explained Putra to Bali Travel News.

Bali Zoo Park is established on 3.5 hectares of land in Gianyar, at Seseh Apuan Hamlet, Sukawati. It’s approximately an hour drive from Nusa Dua and Kuta, while 30 minutes from Ubud and Sanur. The park has operated since September 2002 with 350 animals comprising 60% Aves (birds) and 30% Mammals. Bird group consists of Bali Starlings, peacocks, cassowary, eagles and so forth, while the mammals consist of Sumatran tigers, African lions, deer, kangaroos, camels and primates. Meanwhile, the remaining 10% is reptiles like crocodiles, Komodo dragons, snakes, iguana and tortoises.

Supporting Facilities
As a tourist object, Bali Zoo Park is completed with restaurant accommodating 300 seats and open stage for dance presentation while accompanying the lunch or dinner. Wide range of menu selections of international, Indonesian and Bali are served here. No less important is the Café that provides assorted light refreshments and venue of tame animal attraction. And, other supporting facilities provided are art shop, resting place, gallery and spacious parking are.

Direct Interaction
Visitors to Bali Zoo Park are not only satisfied to see the animals on display in the cage with attractive landscape; however, they can also make attraction and interact personally with some tame animals existing in the park. By direct interaction, visitors can get in touch, feed, and play together, stroking them while sitting and pose together with such animals for a momentous photograph.
Even, in welcoming the Christmas and New Year 2006, Bali Zoo Park has prepared several attractions of animal and interaction with some sorts of tame animals. Afterwards, increases display and other supporting facilities to enrich the experience of visitors. Some of the attractions are as follows:

Pony Horseback Ride
Visitors, particularly children are leisurely taken to ride the pony. Prior to riding activity, they will be embellished just like a cowboy and proceed to look around the park. During the riding, they will be guided with care by an experienced horseman.

Kiddy Park and Baby Zoo
World of play is inseparable from children. Therefore, Bali Zoo Park provides many kinds of games at children playground. There is also an attraction of Baby Zoo where baby of animals like deer, antelope, kangaroo, goat and other animals are gathered and children can interact with those amusing and cute animals.

Reptile Attraction
Demonstration of various kinds of reptiles is also drawn up. At that time, visitors can immortalize the experience into t-shirt, plate photograph, key tag or pose together with reptile as distinctive souvenir of Bali Zoo Park.
In addition, there is attraction of feeding birds, orangutan, deer, tigers or lions. At this good opportunity, you may also pose together with tame birds; ‘stimulate’ the crocodile to go out from its nest that will become a fascinating and unforgettable experience for every visitor of Bali Zoo Park. “As world class Zoo Park that is parallel to other world zoo parks, Bali Zoo Park continuously shows its new creation to fulfil the satisfaction of visitors,” said Putu Agus Sutyawan, Marketing Manager of Bali Zoo Park.
