As tourism gateway of Indonesia, Bali should become security barometer for tourists that make a visit to this Island of a Thousand Temples. On that account, Bali Provincial Police incessantly endeavours to establish security and convenience for tourists in order that this region becomes a destination that is worth visiting and free from security and public order threats and inconvenience. “We earnestly do our best to extend maximal service to every visitor,” Director of Tourist Pacification of Bali Provincial Police, Kombes Pol. I Gusti Ketut Budiartha, S.H. told the Bali Travel News in his office not long ago.

Declared, the establishment of Directorate of Tourist Pacification of Bali Provincial Police through a Decree of Chief of the Indonesian Police 17 October 2002 on the formation of Directorate of Tourist Pacification on the level of Provincial Police. “Since it was first founded up to present time, we have 306 personnel spreading out at each Resort Police across Bali,” he said while adding that there were 184 points of tourist objects where police personnel were continually assigned.
Directorate of Tourist Pacification of Bali Provincial Police also operates Public Service Line at 224111 named Tourist Assistance Centre (TAC) for non-stop 24 hours service. “Therefore, we strongly suggest to contact nearest tourist police station unhesitatingly in case of facing problems, obstacle or threats during the journey,” he uttered.
To improve the quality of service, his party has made cooperation with tourism components such as Bali Tourism Board (BTB), Bali Government Tourist Office, Balawista (Beach Patrol), Marine Police, IHRA and hotels. “We also brush up the language competence of our personnel by making cooperation with English First (EF) that provides English Course,” he added.
Balis Provincial Police also made cooperation with Japanese police where Mr. Orito Makoto (Police Inspector of Japan) is assigned by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as Advisor to Bali Provincial Police particularly pertaining to means of communication employed by Tourist Police.
According to Mr. Orito Makoto, his party was immensely attentive to development of Bali tourism so he often emphasized that tourist police should be able to carry out their tasks as well as possible. “These all are meant to give rise to security and convenience for tourists. Not only for tourists, but also the entire community of Bali,” he said to Bali Travel News.

Beach Police
Tourist Police of Bali are also assigned to secure beach area. This matter is mentioned in the decree of Chief of Bali Provincial Police dated 9 June 2003 on the formation of Beach Tourist Pacification Police of Bali Provincial Police. “It’s the only one in Indonesia,” uttered Ketut Budiartha while adding that beach splendour was highly favoured by tourists.
Its tasks and responsibilities are to maintain the security and safety of tourists who were having a good time at the beach. “Should there be any tourist who has an accident whilst swimming, the police will extend first aid along with Marine and Air Police,” he said. However, the number of beach police personnel at the current times is thoroughly restricted. They are just in charge at Sanur, Kuta, Seminyak and Nusa Dua area of which amounts to 45 personnel.
