ICC Launches VCD on Yoga

Celebrating a year of establishment of Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) in Bali, a VCD on yoga was launched that constituted the outcome of a cooperation of the ICC in Bali with BaliTV on last Wednesday (28/12). This VCD presents the right and proper method of yoga that can be practised without guidance of an instructor. Present on the occasion were Indian Ambassador to Indonesia, H. E. Hemant Krishnan Singh, Spouse of Bali Governor, Mrs. Mas Beratha and CEO of Bali Post, Satria Naradha.
According to Director of ICC, Dr. Somvir Yodav, Indian Cultural Centre in Bali has operated since 25 December 2004 by opening yoga class, Indian dance and Sanskrit language having 150 regular students. To deepen the understanding on Indian culture having corresponding elements to Hindu culture of Bali, his party sent three Balinese students to India. “This January 2006, we will extend scholarship again to Balinese students to study in India,” he said.
Pertaining to yoga, Somvir explained that yoga was one of the methods or ways to make the people of Bali healthy, without discriminating the age or religion. According to him, in the midst of hustle and bustle of today’s life, it’s the right time to practise yoga. Practising yoga can be performed at home and also at temple on the occasion of certain ceremony. He expected that the launching of the VCD on yoga every home could be made into a Yoga Centre. “If we are healthy physically, mentally and morally, any activities can be realized and accomplished without stress,” he added.
