Anniversary of Tourism Labour Union of Bali Hilton


BADUNG-Celebrating the fourteenth anniversary of Federation of Tourism Labour Union, Unit of Bali Hilton International was performed by rice cone cutting. The happening took place on Tuesday (7/2) at Ballroom of Bali Hilton International and attended by Drs. I Nengah Subagia, SH, MH from Badung Government Manpower Office and Putu Satyawira Marhaendra from Secretary of Federation of Tourism Labour Union, Badung Chapter. Slamet Suranto, Working Unit Head of Bali Hilton International said the celebration was brought about modestly considering tourism has not returned to normal yet. (BTN/015)

Rector of UNHI Denpasar

DENPASAR-Monday (30/1), Prof. Dr. I.B. Yudha Triguna, M.S. was inaugurated the rector of Hindu University of Indonesia (UNHI) Denpasar for the term 2006-2010. The inauguration was carried out by Drs. I Made Gde Sutama, MM as the Chairman of the Widya Kerthi Foundation accompanied by a Hindu holy priest at Sabha Unhi Meeting Hall, Denpasar. (BTN/015)


Rector of Ngurah Rai University

DENPASAR-Having taken hold of the position as Rector of Ngurah Rai University for the term 1992-2001, Tjokorda Gede Atmaja, SH, MH was re-elected to fill in the same position as rector for the next term (2006-2010). He was inaugurated by Drs. Nyoman Sura Aditanaya, MSi, Chairman of Jagadhita Foundation at Versatile Meeting Hall of the Campus for Struggle, Ngurah Rai University Denpasar, Monday (30/1). (BTN/015)

"Turtle Conservation & Education Center"

SERANGAN - Serangan, a village which is located on a small island to the south east of Bali Island, will be having a complete facility for turtle education and conservation programs. Drs. I Wayan Geria the manager for Serangan "Turtle Conservation and Education Center", who comes from Banjar Tengah of Serangan Village when interviewed on Sunday (12/2) said that Serangan turtle centre in the future will be provided with complete facilities, such as a museum and mini theatre with the main purpose of use is for turtle education. He said that this program is very important in order to be able to bring back the positive image of Serangan and Bali in turtle conservation, because Serangan was well known for its turtle nesting site, so, locally it is known as "pulau penyu" which means the turtle island. Dr. Ida Bagus Windia Adnyana, the turtle expert from Udayana University Bali has been facilitating the project since few years ago. Besides supported by the local community, this program is also supported by The Government of Bali Province, The Government of Denpasar City, the Conservation of Natural Resources Section of the Forestry Office of Bali (BKSDA Bali) as well as WWF. Mr. Geria said that the Governor of Bali is expected to officially launch this turtle conservation and education centre in March this year. (BTN/028)


Photography Exhibition


DENPASAR-In connection with the conclusion of Bali Rehabilitation Fund (BRF), the Australian government together with Indonesian government held photography exhibition and various results of activities as well as products of home industry of Balinese community. The exhibition took place for two days on 30-31 January at basement of Ksirarnawa Building, Art Centre Denpasar. Exhibition was opened by Drs. I Gusti Ngurah Gede, Head of Informatics and Telematics Agency of Bali Province represented Governor of Bali accompanied by Bruce Cowled, Australian Consulate in Bali.
