GWK: The World Cultural Forum
Make
the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) area a World
Cultural Forum, just like World Economic
Forum (WEF) in Davos, West Europe,"
says Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, President
of the Republic of Indonesia on the issuing
of World Cultural Forum at GWK area, Saturday
(18/2).
On the happening attended by ministers,
former ministers, Governor of Bali, tourism
figures and other invitees, SBY, the popular
nickname of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono expects
that the location will be well remembered
one day. Moreover, if we can invite many
parties like international personages to
hold a conference and thoughts exchange
on culture and science.
SBY admits that he is so impressed on the
first time came to Davos to attend the World
Economic Forum. Therefore, he is inspired
and hopes that one day GWK will become the
organizer of World Cultural Forum. "I
hope that the monumental project of GWK
Cultural Park has completed in May 2008,"
he says while reminding that the year 1908
is historical day for the Indonesians since
it was the resurrection year of Indonesian
people. "If it has completed in May
2008, that day concurrently becomes the
centennial resurrection celebration of Indonesian
people."
To realize this project, according to SBY,
it's not an easy matter, either in terms
of financial or management aspect. "I
hope in order that this great aspiration
can come true, the government is ready to
give drive, encouragement and assistance,"
he says.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of GWK Foundation,
Made Mangku Pastika, in his press conference
affirms that the presence of the president
has strategic significance for the continuation
of GWK Cultural Park. For that reason, he
hopes that related parties will immediately
follow up the momentum. "Just like
iron, as long as it's warm, let's cast it,"
utters the former Bali Provincial Police.
Also, Nyoman Nuarta, the Initiator and Building
Contractor of GWK Statue, adds that for
financial matter, his party has been signalled
green light by a number of companies like
Telkomsel and Krakatau Steel. "In relatively
short time, a Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) will be signed between GWK and companies
or individual parties involved," observes
Nuarta while adding that his party requires
IDR 672 billion to complete the GWK project.
