"Ogoh-ogoh" Carried, Harbour Closed
Ogoh-ogoh processions,
in relation to the Nyepi celebration, frequently
becomes crucial and results in social conflict.
Nevertheless, ogoh-ogoh on the Pengerupukan
occasion, Wednesday (29/3) is never forbidden.
This activity is an art expression of young
generation to welcome the turning of Saka
New Year. Its revealed on a meeting
of regional leaders at Wiswa Sabha Hall,
the Office of Bali Governor, Tuesday (21/3).
The
meeting was chaired in person by Governor
of Bali, Dewa Beratha and being attended
by Regents and Mayor throughout Bali, Assistant
II of Regional Secretary of Bali Province,
Head of Bali Provincial Religious Affairs,
caretaker of Prime Assembly of Customary
Village and Middle Assembly of Customary
Village across Bali have agreed that the
ogoh-ogoh procession is not prohibited.
However, they distinctly remind in order
that after the procession takes place ogoh-ogoh
should be burnt or pralina at the cemetery
or other places intended for that purpose.
"All prajurus (staff of customary village
management) along with its chief are appealed
to act firmly in anticipating the rise of
any conflicts," affirms Dewa Beratha.
In the meantime, Transportation Services
of Bali Province informs that on the Nyepi
day, Thursday (30/3) starting from 06.00
through Friday (31/3) 06.00, all bus terminal,
seaport and Ngurah Rai International Airport
