Temple Ceremony
SEMINYAK
Villa Kubu "The Luxury
of Privacy" on Tuesday, 14
March (Anggarakasih Kulantir Purnama
Kesanga Full Moon, which felled
on the 9th month of the Balinese
Calendar, carried out an odalan/ceremony
at the temple. All staff and family
members attended the ceremony. The
ceremony was opened with a small
purification by a local priest and
was continued by praying together
lead by Gede Sukarta, the GM of
Villa Kubu and ended with megibung
(having meal together to keep a
good relationship and prosperity

- On March 7, five students taking
SIT (School for International Training)
Study Abroad program from USA got
a lecturer on "Cultural Tourism
in The Era of Uncertainty"
at Udayana University, Bali. Resource
person for this lecture was A.A.Gde
Raka Dalem, a lecturer in Tourism
Postgraduate Program from this university,
who is also the deputy chairperson
of the Tri Hita Karana Tourism Awards
as well as a certified facilitator
of an international sustainable
tourism certification, Green Globe
21. Raka Dalem on his paper stressed
out that besides economic benefits
derived from development of cultural
tourism in Bali, also some negative
impacts need to be prevented; otherwise
sustainability of tourism in Bali

- On 28th Feb 2nd March,
Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel &
Villas hosted the Russian Fam (familiarize)
Trip, arranged by Nustra Tours &
Travel and escorted by Mr. I Nyoman
Bandisa Sastika Senior Sales
Manager of the hotel. This was the
2nd fam trip from Petropolitana
in St. Petersburg as a product refreshment
after the 1st fam trip on 1999.
Petropolitana is an agent for Bali
with regular flights using Air France,
KLM & Lufthansa. The group was
hosted during breakfast and afterwards

Local Encounter
UBUD
On March 20, a couple living
in New Zealand, Mrs. Debra Dempster
(Debbie) and her husband Nick, joined
the meet local encounter
program at Alila Ubud hotel, a program,
which gives a chance to the guest
to meet the local resource person
and discuss about Bali, especially
about their point of interest on Bali,
tourism and Balinese culture which
is based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy.

from Holland
KUTA
- On Friday, March 17, a group of
24 students from the CHN University
Holland visited Hotel Santika Beach
Bali as a part of their school exchange
program. The purpose of this visit
was to know the operation at the
Eastern Hospitality Industry. In
Bali, they will spend 5 weeks to
visit different hotels and villas.
Prior going to Bali, they have spent
almost 5 weeks to visit hotels and
resorts in Bangkok - Thailand. They
were welcomed at the hotels
conference room, continued by a
house tour around the hotel premises
in order to learn more about the
facilities and services of Beach
hotels in Bali. They were very impressed
with hotels surrounding, beautiful
gardens and friendly staffs. Seen

were enjoying walking on the reflexology
pathway in the garden of Hotel Santika
