products becoming the mainstay of Bali Donuts
such as Bali Coffee, Bali Donuts, Bali Pastry

on one thing namely setting it at affordable
price with guaranteed quality, he

To maintain the quality, his company always
makes use of bread ingredients (margarine,

Balinese
Sweets in Sanur Beach Hotel
After
successfully organizing several events like
Seafood Galore Jimbaran Style
now the Sanur Beach Hotel makes a new attraction
for its visitors. During the months of May
and June 2006, the hotel plans to introduce
her guests to the delicious array of traditional
cakes available in Bali with a special afternoon
tea promotion.
Traditional cakes are made from ordinary
Balinese kitchen ingredients such as rice
and coconut, and sweetened natural palm
sugar. Snacking throughout the day is a
typical characteristic amongst the Balinese
and different varieties of cakes are enjoyed
especially when villagers gather socially
or are preparing for a religious ceremony.
These tasty cakes are commonly sold at the
early morning marketplace where tourists
rarely venture.
The hotel will serve favorites such as kue
kelepon- glutinous rice dumplings
stuffed with palm sugar and topped with
grated coconut or bubur injin-
black rice porridge with coconut milk. Another
popular type of cake is kue bantal
a parcel of sticky rice steamed in
length of coconut palm leaf. bubur
sumsum traditional rice flour porridge
with palm sugar syrup and pandan flavor,
etc.
According to the general manager of the
Sanur Beach Hotel, Mr. Christoph Voegeli,
the aim of this event is to present Balinese
cake products to the audiences, because
there are some very interesting types of
traditional cakes available in Bali and
surprisingly enough, they are high in protein,
which is an ideal boost to late afternoon
energy level. His side also wants to create
a truly unique Balinese afternoon tea with
original snacks to complete the experience.
A choice of tea or coffee along with a selection
of unique Balinese sweet treats will be
served between 2.00-4.00 pm daily at the
food and beverage outlets of Tirta Poolside
Restaurant, Basilico or the Bamboo Bar.
The guests have the opportunity to try something
different everyday of the week. (BTN/Rai)
