Goa
Gajah Object New Look
If
you happen to visit the Goa Gajah Temple
object, you will certainly find something
new. The object, located right east of Ubud
city, Gianyar or some 24 km from Denpasar,
now has a new look. It covers
the new system of water distribution, garden,
electricity, signboards, toilets, cleanliness,
temple ornaments and brochures in several
languages. These new features were conjured
up by the Nikko Bali Resort & Spa, in
full cooperation with the Gianyar Government
Tourist Office through the THK / Tri Hita
Karana program.
Entering the area of Goa Gajah, you assuredly
will not get lost, as it has been equipped
with some helpful signboards heading for
the Goa Gajah object. Signboards have been
installed one hundred metres west and east
of Goa Gajah. And, right in front of the
location, there is now a greeting sign Welcome
to Goa Gajah.
On the way to the location you will feel
convenient. Starting from the entrance gate
to the temple, new garden arrangements have
been carried out by planting more than one
hundred nice decorative plants of various
kinds. Also dustbins have been placed conveniently.
Along the path leading to the temple, you
will find unique street lamps in the form
of small traditional huts.
All shrines at the temple are now completed
with name boards written in Balinese and
Latin character. This will enable visitors
to get information about the names of the
shrines and, at the same time, this promotes
and conserves the Balinese characters to
support the discourse of sustainable Bali.
All shrines here are also festooned with
fabric paraphernalia that progressively
generate more religious nuance.
Similarly, lamps within the cave are arranged
in such a way that makes them more attractive.
Showers in the pond, right in front of the
cave, are now working normally. Installing
a new pump has repaired the connecting channel
and now the water can flow to the holy places.
Improvement of these facilities was successfully
accomplished through cooperation between
Nikko Bali Resort and supporting devotees
of the temple.
I Wayan Suarmika, S.E., Accounting Manager
of Nikko Bali Resort & Spa in the midst
of the happening Nikko BaliGoa Gajah
Enhancement Program, Friday (12/5) said
that the hotels party also performed
the improvement of human resources by delivering
training to gardener staff, so they can
do the maintenance for the toilets properly.
In the long term, we are going to
provide training in management and security
fields so the tourists coming to Goa Gajah
will always feel convenient and secure,
said Suarmika while adding that his party
has conducted training on security affairs
for all tourist resorts across Gianyar and
centralized at Goa Gajah.
According to Suarmika, the concept of maintaining
Goa Gajah object is by organizing the related
parties and the agency that manages the
tourist object. Nikko Bali is the
facilitator. Formerly, the Regional Government
of Gianyar through three related institutions,
namely the Landscaping and Cleanliness Services
Agency, Government Tourist Office and the
Regional Revenue Agency, managed this object.
By the presence of Nikko Bali as foster
father, all can be well arranged and coordinated,
Suarmika, added.
In the meantime, Head of the Association
of THK Awards Activists and Observers, Dika
Rejonta, said that the outlook change of
Goa Gajah is the real outcome of the Tri
Hita Karana Tourism Awards. Nikko Bali Resort
& Spa has proved it. Management of this
hotel does not only manage the hotel but
is also concerned with tourist objects that
have not been well managed by the government.
The foster father program of this
object is not only a lip service but it
has shown its real outcome through the activity
of the Nikko Bali, he affirmed.
Dika appeals for other hotels in order that
this program is not only a lip service,
but also true and real. Up to this moment,
there have been a number of hotels offering
themselves to participate in managing the
tourist objects. There are 12 objects categorized
to have worked well like that in Tabanan,
Karangasem, Gianyar, Badung and Denpasar
handled by hotels located in Sanur. We
will take up again and register the objects
needing attention. In addition, we are planning
a joint promotion of eco friendly hotels,
he said while adding, amongst the 128 hotels
that are member of THK, there are only 35
hotels agreeing to join the co-promotion.
If only everyone had understood well,
hotels could do nothing when Bali did not
receive any guests. On that account, we
should look to Bali as a whole. We do expect
that other hotels will soon realize how
necessary this co-promotion is. For instance,
by publishing a book carrying the eco friendly
hotels, he affirmed. (BTN/015)
