Middle
East Markets
DENPASAR
– The Middle East Area is
very potential for Bali, now and
in the future. The low number of
visitors from Arab Saudi and the
other counties in the Middle East
to Bali is because poor promotion
and information. If we can give
good information for sure, Bali
will get tourists from those countries
that are better known as the desert
countries. At this moment not one
government side have seen this potential
market. At the end of May, The head
of Middle East Travel Agent Association,
Mr. Wahib Ibrahim Zahid made a visit
to Denpasar. During his visit, besidea
meeting several tourism practitioners,
Mr. Wahib also met with the II Assistant
Secretary of Denpasar Ketut Wisada
who represented the Denpasar Government.
To Bali Travel News Dewi Supriani
said, this time she and both her
friends Yus Suhartana and Lestarini
are observing the market in the
Middle East. "We hope the Bali
Government will support this planning,"
she explained. She added, her visit
was a realization by the memorandum
of Understanding (MoU) assignment
between Mr. Wahib Ibrahim Zahid
and Dr. Abdul Razak Bawazeer, M.Sc.,
Sp.B. from Indonesia. This memorandum
will describe in detail an exclusive
co-operation in the tourism industry.
The co-operation is not only in
term of Travel Business in Bound,
but also connected to property,
manpower, accommodation, transportation
and tour activities. "This
is a valuable moment towards the
recovery of Bali tourism,"
utters Yus. Seen in the picture,
Mr. Wahib Ibrahim Zahid when gave

| Tower
Built was Protest
But
sometime this telecommunication facility
is not matched with the development
of a tourism area. This problem wasexperienced
at Banjar (Br) Katiklantang, Singakerta
Village, Ubud District, around 20
km of Denpasar. The society of Br.
Katiklantang felt disturbed with the
installation of a tower in the rice
fields, because it could disturb the
tourism accommodation like villas
and galleries. This installation was
protested by the society and delivered
when meeting to observe the location,
Friday (9/6). According to the project
coordinator, who is also a teacher
and activist of environment, Dewa
G. Putrawan, building the tower certainly
will not give good benefits for the
society in the surrounding area that
mainly lives from the tourism industry,
beside of that, it also has bad impact
for the health of people who live
there.(BTN/tar)
