DUA - Meliá Bali Villas &
Spa Resort donates some items to
Nusa Dua Tourism High School, on
Tuesday, June 13 2006. Four team
members of Meliá Bali, assisted
by Meliá Bali Assistant Human
Resources Director, John Raja, arrived
at the school around 11:00 AM to
deliver a wooden cupboard, a table,
an artwork, and a safety box. Meliá
Bali always tries to commit in doing
its best at community involvement
by supporting some unfortunate schools,
by providing materials that are
in good working condition and needed
by the schools. Teachers and staff
of SMK Nusa Dua School were very
thrilled to receive all the materials
and the Meliá Bali team used
the opportunity to greet some students
and to make a tour of the school

Spokesperson of the President

– The spokesperson of the
Indonesian President, Mr. Andi Malarangeng
recently visited Bali and stayed
at Inna Grand Bali Beach. The Spokesman
joined the press conference of Indonesian
President together with President

Economic Seminar
NUSA DUA—To shore up the economic
relationship between Japan and Indonesia,
particularly in the fields of industry,
trade and tourism, the Japan-Indonesia
Economic Forum (JIEF), supported
by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce
and Industry (Kadin) and JETRO (Japan),
organized the 7th JIEF Economic
Seminar at the Ballroom of Bali
Hilton Hotel, Nusa Dua, Friday (7/7).
The seminar, directed by Richard
Susilo, was attended by 60 participants
from Japan and Indonesia. Speakers
in the seminar were

Maestro Collaborations
UBUD
– On the opening ceremony
of the Ubud Festival 2006, Sunday
(16/7) a special attraction was
presented by two famous senior painters,
Nyoman Gunarsa (Bali) and Jazon
Monet (England), who made a collaboration
in painting two faces of the elders
of Puri Ubud, Tjokorda Gede Agung
Suyasa and Tjokorda Gede Putra Sukawati.

Opened Gateway
BADUNG
– Businessmen in Bali certainly
need good express service, so TNT
Express was opened a new Gateway in
Bali, at the International Ngurah
Rai Airport Denpasar. This makes it
easier for businessmen who don’t
need to go back to Jakarta. The Gateway
in Denpasar is the fourth gateway
built in Indonesia after Jakarta,
Balikpapan and Surabaya. This was
said by Peter Langley, Country General
Manager of TNT Indonesia during the
press conference at The Wave, Friday

Anniversary
DENPASAR
– In conjunction with the 60th
anniversary of BNI (Bank Negara Indonesia)
an announcement was made about the
acceleration of developing quality
service through technology development.
In addition, several social works
were held to cheer up the anniversary,
like giving educational fees for 1.980
students from Elementary up to Senior
High School, million books program
and painting 60 school buildings all
over Indonesia. In terms of health,
blood donations and a massive circumcision
ceremony were held. Especially for
BNI regional VIII the management gave
school fees amounting IDR.65 million
for Bali, NTT and NTB. Putut Darmanto,

Leadership
Training
DENPASAR
- Youngsters of Bali (Yowana Bali)
have extended their knowledge about
leadership after attending a training
course called "Leadership of
Hindu Youth of Bali Province"
in Denpasar recently. I Wayan Mustika
the head of this implementation program
from the Bali Government, said that
the training was carried out in several
shifts, and in each shift, which last
for about 4 days, about 50-60 participants
are involved. Materials of the training
covers (among others): Balinese culture,
environment conservation, yoga and
meditation, and customary village.
Resources persons on the training
come from lecturers, government officers,
NGO activist, tourism practioners
etc., include: Cok Atmaja, A.B.G.
Satria Narada, Pande Malihana, Dewa
N. Suprapta, Gede Nurjaya, I Md Yoga
Parwata, Luh Arjani, Mangku Karmaya,

12, 2006 mentioned that this program
was very important in empowering the
local community so they can actively
participate in looking after Bali
and capable to survive in a tight
