Summer Party

BADUNG – Friday (1/9), a Summer Party was held at Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel Bali. The activity was attended by 200 invitees from travel agents, airlines and individuals. According to Alice V.W Matulessy, Director of Sales and Marketing Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel Bali, the activity was held as a reflection of thanks to the travel agents and airlines who have a good cooperation with the hotel. "The activity is a good opportunity to exchange experiences between us. Hopefully through this activity the good cooperation will become a harmonious one," she said. The invitees were cheered up by the performance of traditional "angklung" music orchestra, fashion show and door prices. (BTN/015)

Miss Universe

NUSA DUA - Zuleyka Rivera was crowned as Miss Universe 2006 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. The 18 years old lady is the eldest of three children. Hailing from Salinas, Puerto Rico, a small coastal town off the Caribbean Sea, Zuleyka extremely close with her two younger brothers, she has always considered family to be her top priority. As Miss Universe, Zuleyka will spend the next year championing the official causes of MISS UNIVERSE®, which include increasing HIV/AIDS awareness by focusing on women’s health and reproductive issues as well as forging relationships with organizations committed to research and education, such as the Global Health Council, God’s Love We Deliver, GMHC (Gay Men’s Health Crisis). Walking Race Puputan Badung

DENPASAR – The traditional walking race Puputan Badung was held Friday (8/9). It saw 79 troupes from Junior High Schools (male 21 groups and 16 groups), Senior High Schools (14 male groups and 16 female groups), and public participants (10 male groups and 2 female groups). The competition was opened by The Province Regional Secretary Bali I Nyoman Yasa who represented the Governor of Bali and was also cheered up by honorary participants from the legislative group like from all member of DPRD Badung, exclusive group who participated by the Regent and several officers of Badung government, state officer group of Denpasar, Dharma Wanita Badung Group, Forum Perbekel and Lurah in Badung and FK3D Badung group. The route started from Margarana and passed Mengwi, Kapal, Dharmasaba, Peguyangan and finished in the front of Jayasaba building, Puputan Badung square. Total prize in this competition is about Rp 207 million. (BTN/015)

"Tawur Gentuh" Ceremony

DENPASAR – The situation of Segara Sanur Beach, Thursday (7/9) seemed to look different if compared with the other days. On that occasion there was held a " Tawur Gentuh" ceremony, while praying to ask for the safeness and harmonious of the nature. Numbers of tourists were enjoying this ritual ceremony. The ceremony involved three customary villages like Intaran, Penyaringan, and Sanur. (BTN/015)

Beach Soccer

BADUNG – The tsunami issue that is very hot recently, is not decreasing the willingness of foreign countries to play soccer on the beach. Many foreigners from different countries and age, together with the local people, played as a foot ball team from one country. Seen in the picture: tourists playing football on the beach of Nusa Dua.
