Wiwin
Suyasa
Executive Assistant Manager
The
management of Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel
is pleased to announce the appointment of
Mr. Wiwin Suyasa as Executive Assistant
Manager. Wiwin is a native Balinese from
Tabanan, who started his hotel career in
1988 as a Sales representative of Pertamina
Cottages (now The Patra Bali) and in 1990,
he joined the Sheraton.
He progressed rapidly through the Sheraton
group, from Account Executive at the Sheraton
Laguna, moving on to the Sheraton Senggigi
in Lombok in 1991, returning to Bali in
1993 as the Market Analyst for Sheraton
Bali Resorts. In the same year he moved
to the Jakarta Sheraton Sales Centre then
back to Lombok in 1994 as Director of Sales.
In 1996, he took up a position at The Holiday
Inn Resort Lombok as Director of Sales &
Marketing and having improved his hotel
operation skills, he decided to accept a
position with Aerowista, a sister company
of Garuda Indonesia Airline as Resident
Manager of Sanur Beach Hotel before moving
to Jakarta as the Executive Director of
Satriavi, the travel and tour operator division
of Garuda.
By 2002, Wiwin was running his own business,
Vision Pl@nner, a hospitality business and
human resources development consultancy,
and this led to his running of the Intan
Lombok Village for three years as General
Manager.
After the bombing in October, 2005, Wiwin
was asked to run the Secretariat of the
Bali Tourism Board and he accepted this,
despite the fact that it was a voluntary
position. He will continue to support the
Bali Tourism Board; he says that this is
a contribution to the greater good of Bali
and there is absolutely no conflict of interest
between this and his work for Discovery
Kartika Plaza Hotel. Wiwin says he feels
very happy to have joined the staff of Discovery
Kartika Plaza Hotel; he thinks the property
and the staff are both beautiful but they
have the potential to grow and he wants
to contribute to this expansion. As a devoted
husband and father of two boys, aged 10
and 14, Wiwin is dedicated to the revival
of Bali, which will bring success to many
families here. (BTN/*)
Putu Satyawira
Establish the Familiar Sense
In
the midst of his bustle to organize the
Federation of Tourism Labour Union of Badung
Chapter, Putu Satyawira Marhaendra made
time to become the chairman of the committee
of Olympic Games at Melia Bali Villas &
Spa Resort. The happening was held to commemorate
the 61st Anniversary of the Independence
Day of Indonesia and engaged hundreds of
participants consisting of employees and
guests staying at the hotel. At least, there
were three departments involved such as
Room Division, Food & Beverage and Administration
& General Affairs. His pride was the
presence of the General Manager of Melia
Bali Villas & Spa Resort, Alfonso Romero
as participant of the fun walk activity.
Within this sport activity, Satyawira intentionally
selected the kind of sport that involved
many people so it then could establish the
sense of familiar relationship, friendship
and togetherness. The activity took place
last 6-16 August and held some branches
of sport comprising the tug of war, sack
race, wooden-clog race, chess, table tennis,
volley ball, badminton and lawn tennis.
One day before the celebration of the Independence
Day of the Indonesian republic, a friendly
football match was held between the teams
of Melia Bali and Bali TV.
"I feel confident that by several sport
activities of this kind we can reinforce
our friendship amongst the employees of
Melia Bali. Besides, it will result in good
cooperation between the senior and its subordinates
and increase the productivity that later
can establish the sportmenship amongst the
employees," he said.
He also added that although he is busy serving
as Secretary of the Federation of Tourism
Labour Union of Badung Chapter, he persistently
put priority on his tasks and responsibility
as an employee of Melia Bali. Moreover,
he was entrusted to become the Chairman
of the Committee by his general manager.
As a consequence, it should be born and
carried out as good as possible. "Trust
as the committee should be undertaken seriously
and earnestly," he affirmed.
According to him, the key success did not
lie only on himself but also due to good
cooperation of entire team. The appointed
committee was made up by people that were
willing to work hard and capable in their
duties. Similarly it was caused by the support
of each department head so the activity
could run flourishingly. "In his organization
of Labour Union, each department has its
own administrator so the bustle from the
committee of Olympic Games can be carried
out well," he uttered.
Talking about the increasing number of discharges
of labour relation, Putu Satyawira expected
that it would not occur. For that purpose,
he appealed that all related parties sit
together and find out the best solution.
Stakeholders of tourism were expected to
be willing to have a discussion about the
strength, weakness, opportunity and threat
against the recovery of Bali tourism that
later was capable of delivering the image
of Bali tourism in the years to come. (BTN/015)
