Surf
Riding at Dreamland
Though
the sun shines intensely, it does not discourage
the interest of surf riders to try out the
huge waves at Dreamland Beach. Yes, surf
riding indeed has become the staple to-do
list for the tourists and local inhabitants
nearby. Even, to some tourists, either from
homeland or foreign countries, surf riding
is one of the reasons driving them to come
to Bali.
On
occasions, such surf riders seem to pay
no attention to time and place. In the morning
or in the afternoon, they are surf riding.
Even to reach the Dreamland Beach location
they should pass a moderately steep field,
they never mind. It’s this kind of
beach they look for. Once in a while, they
come alone or with friends, by motorbike
or car.
If they ride a motorbike, their surfing
board will be hung at one side of his bike
by means of a surfing board’s holder.
It’s not difficult to find it, as
they are available by rental, namely the
motorbike in company with surfing board
and its holder.
Having arrived at the destination, they
draw up their surfing tools and should go
down the cliff to reach the beach. There
are several paths leading to the beach.
As soon as arriving on the beach, they prepare
everything, including the surfing board;
safety string fastened on the anklet and
performs warming up.
If everything is okay, they rush to leave
for the fringe of the beach, stand and wait
for the right moment while holding their
surfing board. When the right moment comes,
they plunge themselves into the water, swim
by facing downward on the surfing board
and heading for the middle of the sea.
When seeing the appropriate wave, they rush
to ride on the surfing board and move sneaky
following the rhythm of the wave. Not all
moves work. If they happen to fail on the
first chance, they will try again on the
next chance. What to do if this fall through?
Do not worry! They are not the one who easily
give up. They will keep on trying and trying
again. If it happens that a good and appropriate
wave is coming, they will look like surf
riding within a tunnel made from water.
Other than this, some of them also demonstrate
a really unique style. By the night falls,
the activity along the beach becomes smaller
so do the surf rider. Some of them go ashore;
sit down while preparing to go home and
the rest stand on the fringe of the beach
to luxuriate in the allure of the absorbing
sunset.
It grows darker and darker and more surf
riders leave the beach. However, they will
keep their intention to come again and conquer
the more towering and challenging waves.
It is here that their life abides. Do you
want to make a try? You can start by finding
out the location of Dreamland first, right
at Pecatu Graha, Bukit Jimbaran, Badung
Regency Bali. (BTN/primarta)
