Cremation Ceremony

PELIATAN – A rare cremation ceremony, called "pelebon" took place at the Agung Peliatan Palace in Ubud, Sunday (24/9). This kind of cremation ceremony only takes place once in a 5 – 10 year period. The ceremony used a "bade" or cremation tower with 9 levels and about 21 meters high, a white cow and "naga banda" (dragon), because the deceased person was the daughter-in-law of the Royal Family of the Agung Peliatan Palace Kingdom, Ubud- Gianyar. See page 6 ‘Ngaben’ at Pemecutan Palace, Denpasar. (BTN/primarta)
