Celebrating ‘Clean Up the World’
All Tourist Objects Are Cleansed
Celebrating
the ‘Clean up the World’ day,
thousands of community and government officers
in Karangasem Regency, Friday (15/9) shared
the hard work. They amassed the rubbish,
particularly plastic rubbish throughout
the tourist objects in Karangasem.
Over thousands of Karangasem dwellers consisting
of civil servants, customary villagers,
employees of tourism sector and students
simultaneously did clean up services at
the Besakih Temple complex and its surroundings.
A corresponding activity was also performed
by the dwellers of Sidemen, Manggis in Candidasa,
while that of Kubu did it at Tulamben and
some of Abang dwellers brought it about
at Tirtagangga, Amed and Jemeluk.
Head of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant
Association (IHRA) of Karangasem Chapter,
Ir. Wayang Tama reported that the activity
was carried out due to the input from the
general public around the hotels. This clean
up action was executed to preserve the environment,
chiefly the territory of Karangasem that
currently is known to remain pristine and
peaceful. Similarly, the activity was also
associated with training of the processing
of organic rubbish into utilizable articles
like recycled paper.
Likewise, the Regent of Karangasem Wayan
Gredeg and his Vice Gusti Lanang Rai took
part in this clean up activity. They expected
the community to create healthy life style
and disposing of rubbish properly as a habit,
not in the water irrigation, gutter or river.
