"Ngaben" at Pemecutan Palace

A cremation ceremony, called "Ngaben", was held at the Pemecutan Palace in Denpasar last Wednesday (27/9). The wife of the late king Raja Pemecutan IX, Mrs. Anak Agung Made Raka, was cremated at the Badung Cemetery in Denpasar. Thousands of royal family members accompanied her to the cremation grounds, followed by the huge towers and lembu (bulls) for the mass cremation. (BTN/primarta)

Women Gong Kebyar Festival

DENPASAR – About 12 "sekeha" or women troupes joined the Women Gong Kebyar competition between female PKK monitoring teams from Denpasar. The 3 day festival (24 – 26 September 2006) was held in front of Museum Bali, with a total prize about Rp 33 Millions. The festival took off with a performance of the "Pusparini Merdangga troupe" from PKK Banjar Buruan, West Sanur as the honorary participant. (BTN/015)

"Breakthrough the Power Within"

DENPASAR – About 600 people from Bali, Kupang, Lombok and Solo followed the seminar entitled "Breakthrough the Power Within" at Hotel Nikki Denpasar, Sunday (24/9). The one-day seminar was organized by the weekly news paper Tokoh in co-operation with the ‘SKL’ Human Resources Development. "The bad economic situation of Bali that resulted from the first and second bomb tragedies, created many kind of problems in our society. Some people are losing control of their mind, other feel like committing suicide, the spending power of the society and consumers keeps decreasing and many individuals and companies are facing bankruptcy. This seminar’s aim was to motivate the participants to find out more about themselves," said Sam one of the committee. (BTN/015)
