Another
City Park in Denpasar
At the beginning of 2007, the down-town
inhabitants of Denpasar will have another
city park. For the time being, they just
use the Puputan Badung square at the heart
of the city and the Puputan Margarana at
the Bajra Sandhi Monument in Renon. "We
will set up another city park on the land
that was formerly the civic centre of Badung
Regency, which is now moved to the suburban
area of Sempidi Village," said the
mayor of Denpasar, Mr. Puspayoga, on making
a site inspection to the project of the
new park.
Stated,
other than being used as city green open
space, the park is also expected to become
a cool and convenient recreation scene.
"We earmark this city park for city
dwellers residing at the western and northern
areas," he said.
The initial phase of the construction is
greening the area by grasses. Then, it’s
resumed with a selection of landscaping
plants and its arrangement. "In short,
this area will be made into a verdant and
shady park," he told Bali Travel News.
The extent of the land arranged reaches
5 hectares that is divided into three garden
beds. The most expansive bed is located
at the eastern side and will be equipped
with jogging tracks surrounding the square.
Meanwhile, the existing ex-asphalted road
will be allocated for parking lots. The
revamping of this park will cost IDR 850
million. (BTN/015)
