Planning
DENPASAR
– The Denpasar City government
is very consistent in its developing
programs based on sustainable environment
conservation. Friday, (15/9) the "gerakan
bakti penghijauan pemuda 2006"
event was held at Mertasari Beach
Sanur. Besides planning plantation,
social activity also held that participated
by the local community, youth organization
and students. About 1200 plants like
250 majagau trees, 250 cempaka trees,
100 yellow coconut and 100 intaran
trees were planted. As well as cemara
laut, pinang, sandat, pucuk bali,
about 50 plants respectively. The
plantation planning was carried out
by the Mayor of Denpasar Municipality,
Drs. A.A. Puspayoga, who was accompanied
by his wife, Mrs. Bintang Puspayoga
and the Vice Mayor of Denpasar Municipality,
IB. Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra. (BTN/015)

Sofitel Seminyak Bali visited Bali
Travel News (BTN). The visit aimed
to make good relationship between
Sofitel Seminyak and BTN tourism

Book and Brochure
BADUNG
–The Badung Regent, Mr. A.A
Gde Agung, SH handed over a book and
brochure packet, containing tourism
information in the Badung Regency
to the Indonesian Ambassador for Slovakia,
Mr. Lutfi Rauf. This took place in
the regent’s office, Thursday
(12/10). Through this information,
Mr. Lutfi Rauf will promote in Slovakia
the Regency of Badung as the icon

| "Melaspas"
Ceremony
DENPASAR
– The Bali – India foundation
at Renon Denpasar held a "melaspas
ceremony". The ceremony was held
to officially open its new building
in terms of Balinese tradition. According
to Dr. Somvir, the Secretary of this
foundation, the establishment aims
to create good relationships between
Bali and India, especially in Hinduism,
Education, Social and Culture. According
to Prof. Dr. Wayan Rai, the Dean of
Institut Seni Indonesia (Indonesian
Art Institute), his side is very supportive
of this foundation. The foundation
is very beneficial for the Balinese
who want to learn more about India.
In addition it is good for the exchange
of culture between Bali and India.

Spa & Wellness
SANUR
– The Asia Spa & Wellness
Festival 2006 will be held at the
Mid Valley Exhibition Center, Kuala
Lumpur – Malaysia. The Festival
will be held from 1 to 3 December
2006 and will feature over 100 exhibitors
from 18 countries. The wide variety
of spas and wellness centers will
cater for visitors of different interests
and needs. Among them are destinations
spas, medical spas as well as wellness
centers ranging from traditional Chinese
medicine to Ayurvedic (Indian) and
naturopathy. According to project
director of this event Mr. William
Ng, the Asian Spa & Wellness industry
is going through an unprecedented
phase of growth. This event is a good
opportunity for operators and suppliers
of spas and wellness centers to take
advantage of this unprecedented growth
in the industry. He added that Malaysia
is one of the potential markets for
business in South Asia to promote
Indonesian Tourism. In addition the
other event named Asia Corporate Travel
& Mice Expo 2006 (ACTMICE) will
also be held in the same time and
place. The event aims to bring 5.000
trade delegates together to learn,
exchange information and do business.
This event will draw in corporate
decision makers who decide on hotel,
meeting, venues, airlines and travel
plans to meet supplies of these products.

"Sadar
Wisata" Socialization
BADUNG
– About 250 members of the woman
organization Dharma Wanita of Badung
Regency followed a tourism training
session (sadar wisata) at the Dharma
Wanita Building in Denpasar Wednesday
(13/9). The socialization aimed to
gain the awareness of Balinese women
on tourism in Bali. The speakers came
from Bali Tourism Services, STP Nusa
Dua, KPAD Propinsi, and Bali Trade

for Love
NUSA DUA - The General Manager of
Meliá Bali Villas & Spa
Resort, Mr. Alfonso Romero, together
with Meliá Bali Human Resources
team went for a visit to two orphanages
in Kuta area to distribute some donations,
on Saturday 23rd September 2006. In
conjunction with the Sol Meliá
Community Involvement program, Melia
Bali Villas & Spa Resort is committed
to regularly join programs involving
social activity or contributions to
the community. For this month, Meliá
Bali chose to give its contribution
to two orphanages in Dalung, Kuta
area; Wisma Anak-Anak Harapan and
Widya Asih. The Wisma Anak-Anak Harapan
orphanage has 216 children from age
2 until college students. Widya Asih
orphanage has 67 children and is restricted
to females only. Meliá Bali
contributed rice, instant noodles,
and some toys and children outfit
from Mr. Romero’s family, who
also attended the occasion. The afternoon
ended with a joyful photo session
