Introducing the Culture of Japanese Food
The life of Bali tourism is definitely inseparable
from the restaurant service. The more developed
an area, the more accommodations and restaurants
are established. Notably for restaurants,
various ones have been available in Bali
offering a wide selection of menus, both
domestic and foreign delicacies.
Fukutaro
Restaurant, for instance, is one of the
restaurants located at the dense tourist
area of Kuta. According to Directress of
the Fukutaro Restaurant, Ketut Sukiasih,
"Japanese food is one of the characteristics
of Japanese culture. Nevertheless, it does
not clinch the opportunity to be known in
Bali by both Balinese and those coming to
Bali considering that Bali is an international
tourist destination. A culture will not
develop without getting in touch with other
cultures."
The availability of several kinds of food
in Bali, even those from overseas, does
not necessarily mean that the destination
disregards the treasure of its Balinese
food. Precisely, the culinary diversity
from varied countries will be able to enrich
the culture, particularly in the food domain.
"Fukutaro will attempt to standardize
the rates so the Japanese food can be savoured
by a wider community," utters Sukiasih
on being encountered at the ‘Multicultural
Week’ event.
Added, Japanese food can make one satisfied
without necessarily causing his belly heavier.
Similarly, the food like shabu-shabu is
good for flu sufferers.
In
this ‘Multicultural Week’ event,
the Fukutaro acts as sponsor of Japanese
food in cooperation with one of the international
schools in Denpasar. "Introduction
of foreign culture to young generation needs
undertaking since being the next generation
of this nation they surely have an opportunity
to undergo exchange or partnership programmes
in education or cultural domain and so forth
with Japan, America and China. It is this
introduction acting as the spearhead, so
they will be no bizarre, particularly to
food and etiquette of eating," she
adds.
As a matter of fact, the Japanese market
remains potential in Bali. It is considering
that Japan occupies the top rank in terms
of the number of tourist arrival in Bali.
"What to do is how to make the Balinese
have a capability of securing their Bali.
Balinese people should maintain their culture
and do not abandon their traditional values.
This subject is momentous by seeing that
Bali has been known for its unique culture,"
she explains. (BTN/rai)
