IBEX
2006
International Broadcast and Multimedia Expo
Currently,
in Indonesia 1800 broadcasting radio, 10
national television, 70 local television
stations and subscribed televisions are
operating, either by cable or satellite
technology. This number proves that Indonesia
has the largest number of broadcasting media
in the Asia Pacific Region after China,"
discloses the Minister of Communication
and Information Technology, the Republic
of Indonesia Sofyan Djalil in Nusa Dua not
so long ago.
Nevertheless, the rapid growth of the broadcasting
industry in Indonesia has not gone along
with the improvement of its human resources.
This is proven by the fact that there has
not been any single international expo and
conference in the domain of broadcasting
held in Indonesia. This matter results in
thousands of Indonesian broadcasters going
abroad to participate in the broadcasting
exhibition or conference activity.
Seeing the great enthusiasm of broadcasters
in Indonesia, the Radio Networks Forum of
Indonesia takes initiatives to organize
an international expo and conference in
the field of broadcasting. By carrying the
theme "From Bali to Digital World"
the International Broadcast and Multimedia
Expo (IBEX) 2006 is held for the first time
in Bali and will become an annual convention
event.
This four-day exhibition and conference
is participated by 49 entrants encompassing
9 broadcasters, 28 vendors and 12 associations
from several countries such as Indonesia,
the United States, China, Malaysia, Finland,
Italy, Russia, Singapore and Spain. This
is expected to be able to promote Indonesia
in the international forum as the market
segment of broadcasting and multimedia industry.
Through the appointment of Bali as the venue
of IBEX 2006, it is also hoped that it is
capable of improving the tourism industry
of Indonesia. (BTN/rai)
