Annual
Tennis Tournament
NUSA
DUA - Meliá Bali Villas &
Spa Resort held its 2nd Amateur Tennis
Tournament on November 11th –
20th. Organized by Meliá Bali
team, the 2nd Amateur Tennis Tournament
lasted for 9 days. The annual tennis
tournament obtained quite many participants.
Matches of woman’s singles and
women’s doubles, man’s
singles and men’s doubles and
also a mixed double were carefully
arranged by the Entertainment Manager
of Meliá Bali, Mr. Basuki.
A closing cocktail party for the awards
presentation was held on Tuesday,
21 November 2006 evening. The General
Manager of Meliá Bali Villas
& Spa Resort, Mr. Alfonso Romero,
presented trophies for the winners.
Participants who did not win were
also enjoying the cocktail party,
since a lot of door prizes were given
during the evening. Seen in the picture:

Bali’s 21st Anniversary

DUA - Meliá Bali Villas &
Spa Resort celebrated its 21st anniversary
on Saturday, 2 November 2006. For
its anniversary celebration, Meliá
Bali organized a series of competitions,
such as soccer, chess, and tennis
for the employees. A friendly competition
between each department is intended
to develop the better teamwork and
communication between employees. As
for the D-day, all employees with
their family gathered to celebrate
Meliá Bali’s anniversary
which was held in Puri Bali room.
The celebration started at 6 PM with
a welcoming speech from the General
Manager of Meliá Bali Villas
& Spa Resort, Alfonso Romero.
After the welcome speech, the event
continued with awards presentation
for employees who have been working
for 15 years. Afterwards, a band performed
and lots of door prizes and grand
prize were handed out. As for the
closure, the first grand prize was
handed out. A fortunate staff member
received a Vario motor bike as the
first grand prize. Everyone was enjoying
the cheerful moment of Meliá
Bali 21st Anniversary celebration.

Teruna-Teruni
Bali Beauty Pageant
NUSA
DUA—Eightteen finalists of
the Teruna-Teruni Bali or literally
young boy and girl of Bali from
nine regencies/city throughout Bali,
joined the night of Teruna-Teruni
Bali 2006 grand final. Those finalists
showed off their superior competence
and potential on Balinese culture
such as dancing, poetry reading,
and traditional psalm chanting and
theatrical action. On the occasion,
they were obliged to put forward
their vision and mission as Teruna-Teruni
Bali. Within such beauty contest
the big three for 3 boys and 3 girls
were selected with the assessment
on the competence of written English
and Bahasa Indonesia, interview,
discipline during the contest period
and performance during the grand
final. The selected finalists were
I Gede Adi Pranata (Buleleng) and
I Gusti Ayu Putu Nia Antari (Badung)
as the Teruna-Teruni Bali 2006.
Later on, they will represent Bali
in the selection of Tourist Ambassador
of Indonesia to national arena in
2007. In addition, both finalists
will represent the Young Hindu of
Indonesia in the Youth Global Dharma
Conference 2007. Activity series
of this selection have been set
to start from 8 November untill
its final, Saturday (11/11) at Grand
Ballroom of Ayodya Resort Nusa Dua

A Peaceful Retreat
NUSA DUA—"A Peaceful Retreat
at Nikko Bali Resort & Spa with
Merta Ada" was the theme of the
meditation and relaxation workshop
held by the Nikko Bali Resort &
Spa. This three-hour programme took
the guests to an exploratory journey
delving into the benefits of meditation
and how it can be applied on the situation
of daily life. According to Mr Merta
Ada, most illnesses within our body
originate in our mind. Through regular
meditation, we can attain harmonious
mind and it will extend throughout
the body making our body healthy,
healing the sickness and diminishing
bad reaction on our memories. Additionally,
daily meditation offers practitioners
many positive advantages including
releasing tension, promoting relaxation
and strengthening the mind to overcome
various kinds of emotional imbalance.
The workshop has been well designed
in such a way to unite people who
are interested in meditation and show
how to enrich life and bring about
a sense of balance. The workshop was
commenced at 09.00, Saturday (18/11)
and participated by some tens of entrants
coming from the circle of hotel, foreigners
and general public. This programme
was proudly presented in conjunction
with the tenth anniversary of the

Appreciation Night
KUTA—As
an expression of gratitude from the
Accor Group (Sofitel, Novotel, Mercure,
and All Seasons) to its travel agents
that currently are doing business
with the group, a gathering was held
at Planet Hollywood, Kuta. "Accor
Appreciation Night" was the name
of this fantastic event. Tens of travel
agents attended the event taking the
theme ‘Star Accor Trek’.
The night party a la Star Trek looked
supremely unique where every invitee
and the management and crew of Accor
put on clothing plus accessories just
like on the Star Trek movie. No less
attractive was the venue setting that
was especially designed resembling
a space shuttle. The event was held
on Friday (17/11) and consoled by

of Sympathetic PR
DENPASAR—A Public Relation Officer
should have wide perspectives on Balinese
culture. By such competence, an officer
is expected to be able to provide
the correct information to tourists
visiting Bali. To examine their perspectives,

of Sympathetic PR at the Warta Boga
restaurant participated by Agustini
Witari (White Rose Hotel), Maria Lisa

Seedlings of Passion Fruit
BADUNG—Making
the Plaga Village an ecotourism destination
and encouraging the community-based
economy in Badung Regency, the Vice
Regent of Badung, Drs. I Ketut Sudikerta
presented an aid in the form of 2000
seedlings of passion fruit to 81 farmers
from four subaks (Balinese irrigation
cooperative) at Plaga and Belok Village.
Such passion fruit seedlings are imported
from South Celebes and bred at the
Agricultural Extension House, Plaga.
