School
Situated
at the western end of Denpasar, precisely
at Jalan Mahendradata No. 88 West Denpasar
stands the Pelita Bangsa School. With tranquil
ambience that is away from city hustle and
bustle and traffic jams, the school was
established in 2004. It is especially designed
to provide quality education by putting
prime concern on moral aspect and the mastery
of technology and religious education for
the pelita bangsa or national enlighteners
of Indonesia.
“This school was established on the
initiative of some entrepreneurs who would
like to provide a pure place especially
prepared to educate the children of this
nation,” said Drs. Sufendi, Headmaster
of the Pelita Bangsa School. With the composition
comprising 50% of national curricula and
another 50% of English and Mandarin language
education supported by the implementation
of audio-visual aid and bilingual teaching
method so the students can interact directly
with the subject taught through computer
monitor. Other than learning the main subjects
the students can also be automatically introduced
to technology and language learning.
The Pelita Bangsa School comes up with education
starting from the level of Play Group, Kindergarten
to Primary School. With complete facilities,
the security and convenience of the students
are extremely given top priority. “At
this school, we’d like to provide
convenient class room equipped with AC and
CCTV, spacious play ground to develop their
creativity as well as technology to produce
reliable generation,” Mr. Sufendi
said.
Students of playgroup and kindergarten are
given emphasis on the introduction of objects
and practise their language competence through
picture and interaction with friends in
English in a pleasant method. Textbooks
of the curricula are published in Bahasa
Indonesia, English and Mandarin from Singapore
as well as supplementary materials from
several other countries.
Every class is restricted to only 24 students
for elementary school and 20 students for
kindergarten and playgroup and supervised
by experienced scholars in education and
also supported by native speaker. Aside
from the exact sciences, the students are
also given the subjects on religion, Balinese
language, computer and abacus. No less important
are the extra curricular activities, comprising
the cooking class and wushu (Chinese martial
arts). The school is also scheduled to provide
additional sports (table tennis, badminton,
tennis, volley ball and swimming), dance,
music, vocal, drum band and Boy Scout.
Particularly for swimming activity, the
school will set up a swimming pool for all
ages or levels. In addition, for refreshing,
entertaining and challenging activity for
students intended to primary school students,
it will build a Jungle Camp.
With school hours from 08.00 to 16.00 Local
Time the students of kindergarten and playgroup
are provided with other services such as
breakfast, lunch and snack. Meanwhile, the
primary school students are only entitled
to have breakfast and lunch. Kids bedroom
(for kindergarten and playgroup), creativity
room, spacious playground, library with
abundant book collections, music room, health
clinic and canteen are other supporting
facilities of this school.
Health check-up for students is held twice
a year encompassing general and dental check
up. In compliance with its plan, in the
upcoming new academic year 2007/2008 will
be opened the secondary school class. In
the meantime, the ample building of Pelita
Bangsa is also used by the general public
for several activities like meetings, seminars,
social gatherings of which its members contribute
to and take turns at winning an aggregate
