Readily Provides Information on Denpasar Municipality

When you go on an excursion to Denpasar, at least there are three tourist objects you can visit, namely temple, royal palace and traditional market. To see these, you do not need too much time as they are close to each other. However, the obstacle commonly encountered is the traffic jam. Facing the more intricate problems of the traffic, the Denpasar Municipality has created a means of information provider in the form of a radio station named the Radio of Denpasar Municipality (RPKD). Later it is expected to distribute the information to the general public regarding the traffic situation in downtown Denpasar.

According to Department Head of Public Relations of Denpasar Municipality, Made Erwin Suryadarma, the establishment of the radio station is used as a means to provide information on the situation of traffic in Denpasar. Subsequently, it is intended for the city dwellers of Denpasar and surroundings that will pass through some road internodes downtown Denpasar, from leaving their home they have monitored the program of the RPKD. By doing so, they will not be trapped in a traffic jam and if possible, they find alternative routes that could be taken.
This radio station has wide coverage area virtually all over Bali. Even, it can be listened to by the people of Banyuwangi and Jember (East Java). Information on the coverage of its broadcast is obtained based on the information reported by some listeners via phone (0361) 244444.
RPKD operating on the frequency 91.45 MHz has the vision “to develop the culturally-based Denpasar City”. Menu of its programs is predominated by the information on the traffic situation in downtown Denpasar and others pertaining to the execution of development within the city. “This radio is expected to be capable of becoming the partner of private radio stations and (the stated-owned) RRI Denpasar. The cooperation is also expected in the form of program, so the founding of this radio does not come in competitor with other radio stations,” observed Erwin.
Other than radio, providing the plus services in the information domain for the community of Denpasar, the Municipality also operates computers with touch screen. This touch screen device can access the data on the condition of Denpasar, either in terms of economic, social, tourism sector including the administration. The general public that would like to get the information on tourism just need to press one of the buttons. Then, the information required will be displayed. This touch screen is installed at the office lobby of the Denpasar Mayor.
Erwin added that the availability of information in the form of touch screen was dedicated to improve the public services. In addition, it aims at extending facilities to the community or tourists that require correct and accurate data on Denpasar. “Providing accurate and actual information to the public or tourist is the duty of the Municipality. Moreover, in this global era, information immensely helps the community in carrying out their activity,” he explained.
Data provided on the touch screen will be updated all the time, in accordance with the existing condition. “It means, should there be any population move, the data would be revised as soon as possible,” uttered Erwin. (BTN/015)
