Badrus
Haris
A Kiting Hobbyist
In
the midst of his bustles as Resident Manager
at the Ayodya Bali Resort (formerly, Bali
Hilton International), Badrus Haris still
makes his time to play kites. His interest
in the kiting domain makes this figure does
not worry about his tight hustle and bustle.
“Playing kite was indeed my hobby
since my childhood. Participating in this
competition is concurrently recalling my
childhood,” he said laughingly.
Not long ago, Badrus—so he is intimately
called—joined the combat kite competition
organized by the Bali International Kites
Committee at Sempidi, Badung. On such competition,
Badrus went to a favourite winner as the
performance of his kite drew remarkable
attention. “This competition can encourage
the kite flyers of Bali that have been existed
from time immemorial. An arena as this one
could be used as an attempt for the Bali
recovery because the nature of Bali is immensely
ideal and potential to be made into a venue
to hold the combat kite competition,”
he explained.
Similarly, this Head of Ayodya Kites Club
has in fact intense concerns with the potential
of traditional games of the rural community.
Badrus really agrees with the execution
of International Kites Festival to generate
the passion of Bali’s kite flyers.
Even, the establishment of Bali International
Kites Committee will definitely help the
carrying out of the festival in a more professional
manner.
Badrus is indeed a figure of low profile.
Starting his career as restaurant waiter
in 1977, the graduate from the Academy of
Hotel and Tourism Denpasar Bali has abundant
experience in the tourism industry. Joy
and misery during the passage of his career
have made the man born in 1958 into a sturdy
figure so that he could fill the position
of Resident Manager of Ayodya Resort Bali
since 2006.

Miss Bali—India 2007
Ayu Sriwidanti Yuliandari: Ready
to Promote Bali in India
Having
crowned Miss Bali—India 2007, Ayu
Sriwidanti Yuliandari will depart to India
to introduce Balinese culture there. Such
joint visit with the government of Bali
Province is scheduled in the upcoming April
2007. For that purpose, Danti—familiar
name of this beautiful girl—is determined
to learn sustainably about the art, culture
and tourism of Bali.
As tourism ambassador, Danti will not only
introduce the Balinese culture but also
is determined to learn about Indian culture
and then to be socialized in Bali. “Culturally,
Bali and India has propinquity, therefore
it would not be too difficult to acculturate
them. Importantly, do not transfer them
at all. But, selectively take the good that
in compliance with the needs of Balinese
culture,” she said seriously.
By the way, talking about her election as
Miss Bali—India, the model of Denpasar-born
on 1 July 1987 observed that all were of
the greatness of God. She herself always
invoked to God in order she was endowed
with peace of mind, safety and work. “The
one encouraging me to participate in the
Miss Bali—India selection was volition
to make those who love me feel proud that
Danti could do it,” said this former
radio broadcaster while smiling proudly.
From such beauty pageant, this sweet girl
aspiring to become a lawyer felt to have
much benefit from this activity, notably
on the quarantine session. Other than having
the opportunity to travel, she also got
many new friends and experiences that would
evidently enhance her knowledge.
The most impressive experience for this
Balinese girl of 165 cm height and 50 kg
weight was when receiving lectures from
the Regent of Bangli, Nengah Arnawa at Kintamani.
There, she obtained much knowledge about
culture and objects coming in the tourist
attraction in Bangli like the coolness of
climate at Penelokan and uniqueness of Penglipuran
Village.
Similarly, Danti felt so impressed on obtaining
other lectures from tourism practitioner
Cok Ace. Through provision of tourism practitioner
and businesspeople, Danti had a better understanding
on the art and culture becoming the attraction
to foreign tourists to visit Bali. “All
Balinese people need to maintain their characteristics
like the arrangement of Balinese architecture
and subak (irrigation cooperative) organization
with its Tri Hita Karana concept. By doing
so, Bali will stay to have its own distinctiveness
that is indeed searched for by foreign tourists,”
added the student of semester IV at Faculty
of Law Udayana University Denpasar who is
busy filling her days with fitness, travelling
and reading books seriously.(BTN/015)
