Bali
Combat Kite Championship
After
Bali was ensured to become the host of World
Combat Kites Championship 2008, the Bali
International Kite Committee (BIKC) supported
by kite-flyers and kiting enthusiasts all
over Bali performed an exercise coincided
with the combat kites on the land of the
Badung Civic Center, last Sunday. Such first
competition in Bali was participated by
29 kite flyers from Denpasar and Gianyar.
Clubs from hotels also took part on his
occasion.
Three
entrants consisting of Putu Sudiarsa, Putu
Adnyana and Komang Taluh respectively went
to the first, second and third winner. In
the meantime, Badrus Haris (Club Ayodya
Kite Resort) was chosen as the favourite
winner.
By paying IDR 20,000 the entrants got five
kites and ready-to-use cord covered with
powdered glass. Type of kite put into the
competition was that of pere-perean (diamond
shaped). The competition applied international
rules, so in the upcoming 2008 the participants
will be well prepared to compete against
foreign kite flyers.
Made Susila Patra, Chairman of the BIKC
who is also the Chairman of the Committee
said that such try-out was an initial warming-up
before the real competition in 2008. Both
the exercise and weekly competition constituted
the short-term program of BIKC to encourage
the local kite flyers of Bali in the combat
kite. In Bali, there are many kite flyers,
but there was no competition ever organized,
notably that of combat kite.
