Painter and Sculptor
Recently,
the painter Tjokorda Udiana Nindhia Pemayun
more concentrated on the profile painting
of beautiful women in imagination. Most
of his paintings have sweet and attractive
colors, sizing 60-80 cm. Meanwhile, the
media in use is acrylic paint on canvas.
Paintings of this style are liked best by
Japanese girls as they reflect motherly
characters with the nuance of traditional
scratch expressed in modern era.
Tjok Udiana, as he is friendly called, was
born in Denpasar on 26 February 1973. He
has a concept of grasping a smile behind
a smile of a dreamy girl. His paintings
give an account of the mystery of a smile
behind the smile of Balinese girl that has
not been revealed yet in the stiffness of
social phenomena facing the problematic
life to face up. Presence of lines, colors
and scratch of brush tends to simplicity.
“I want to reveal the paintings giving
the coolness of an attractive smile to calm
down the ambience of a room if they are
later displayed in a room,” he stated
tranquilly.
Paintings
of this style are more appropriate to furnish
the romantic, obscure and sensual interior.
On that account, it is not surprising that
many circles take a brief look to make them
into wall decoration. Unfortunately, these
paintings take him so long time to complete.
“Mood and imagination should thoroughly
come together to my mind,” he told
Bali Travel News.
Aside from painting, the artist who has
carried out some exhibitions at several
places is also active to made sculptures
from recycled paper. On the whole, these
sculptures take the shape of eagle and bhuta
khala (demonic figure) resembling the embodiment
of small size ogoh-ogoh (papier mâché
demon). His works are more appropriately
applied to accompanying the sculpture of
decorative plants.
As a painter and sculpture, Tjok Udiana
has some few ‘flying hours’
in art working. He is made busier by his
campus tasks. Of course, other than being
an artist, he is also a lecturer on fine
arts subject at the Indonesia Institute
of Arts (ISI) Denpasar.
Within this year 2007, this artist who is
actively taking part in an co-exhibition
with BAPA (Bali Artist Painters Association),
would like to open up description on different
theme from his imaginary girl. What is his
other style? Let’s wait his upcoming
exhibition!(BTN/015)
