Uncommon Blood Available at IRC
Bali:
Tourism Labor Union of Badung Received Awards
The Indonesian Red Cross (IRC) Bali is now
known as the center of uncommon blood provision
in Indonesia. This uncommon blood, better
known as rhesus negative (Rh) is widely
required by foreign tourists. “As
a tourist destination, Bali requires this
blood type, particularly by those who got
accidents or other calamity,” revealed
Prof. Dr. AAG Sudewa Djelantik, Division
Head of Blood Transfusion of IRC Bali on
the occasion of presenting the Blood Donor
Agency award to the Badung Tourism Labor
Union represented by its Secretary General,
Putu Satyawira Marhaendra, not long ago.
The
availability of this uncommon blood, Sudewa
said, automatically held up the tourism
sector in Bali. His party also organized
this uncommon blood type whose donor comprised
the tourists spending their vacation in
Bali. “We expect that a similar system
is also brought into effect in other regions
like in Jakarta, therefore they do not need
to come to Bali obtaining this unfamiliar
blood. Its availability in Bali is quite
restricted,” he said.
Sudewa hoped that the Tourism Labor Union
would undertake socialization at their respective
hotel, so tourists could get involved in
this blood donor activity. “In most
cases, the necessity of uncommon blood happens
suddenly. We are thoroughly looking forward
for the workers in tourism sector to lend
a hand so the blood availability could be
in a secure condition,” he uttered.
Asking about the award, Sudewa observed
that it was conferred as the Badung Tourism
Labor Union has successfully carried out
blood donations more than ten times in succession.
“Likewise, this award serves as motivation
in order it could be carried on and constantly
developed,” he asserted.
In the meantime, Putu Satyawira Marhaendra
remarked that the blood donor activity was
performed in conjunction with free health
care service for the community that was
always executed in relation to the Indonesian
Labour Day. “Due to this activity,
presumably we are the only one Indonesian
Labor receiving such an award,” he
said. (BTN/015)
