Application Center of Australia Opened in
Bali

citizens who are requesting visas for a
visit to Australia significantly increased
annually to 60,000 persons. Five thousands
of them are from Bali. So, the visit of
the Balinese to Australia is relatively
large in number. This information was delivered
by the Minister Counsellor Regional Director
Australia, Jim O’Callagan on inaugurating
the Australia Visa Applications Center—AVAC
at the Unit 12 of the Duta Wijaya Office
Complex, Jalan Raya Puputan, Denpasar, Tuesday
(20/2).
Observed, one of the reasons of Indonesians
travelling to Australia was to continue
their study, except for holiday. This Bali
office is the second after the one in Jakarta
(inaugurated on 2 November 2006).
The choice of Bali was caused by the good
relationship that has taken place for years.
“For the Australians, Bali is a neighbour
so it has been worth delivering better and
faster services in the matter of visa application,”
said Jim O’Callagan accompanied by
Australian General Consul in Bali Bruce
Cowled and Anky Septiana as Public Affairs
Officer at the Australian Embassy.
Minister Counsellor Regional Director of

Consul of Australia in Bali, Bruce Cowled,
inaugurated the Australia Visa Applications
Center-AVAC in Bali.Jim also revealed the
closeness of Bali and Australia had an impact
on the bilateral relationship (Indonesia-Australia).
For instance, the youngsters studying in
Australia and then went home by bringing
some learning to be applied in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Indonesia, chiefly Bali, has
been assumed as a popular tourist destination.
In relation to the visa application, Jim
said that it only took three working days
to arrange visa to Australia. “Ninety
seven percent of the visa applicants we
handled accomplished to obtain their visa.
We are one of the countries having the fastest
process of returning visa application in
