Singapore
Students Learn Ecotourism in Bali
NUSA
DUA – Ninety eight (98) students
accompanied by 8 lecturers from
Anglo Chinese School Independent
Singapore spent some days learning
about Bali while taking holiday
in this island. One of their activities
was to learn about nature or ecotourism.
They learnt about mangrove tour
and bird watching around Nusa Dua
Lagoon, Nusa Dua, on January 16,
2007. Resource person on the training
was Mr. A.A.G. Raka Dalem, who is
the head of Ecotourism Study Group
from Udayana University, Bali. Raka
Dalem guided this eco-scientific
tour around Nusa Dua after he provided
a lecturer on the same topics to
those students on the previous day
when they stayed in Lovina Beach,
Buleleng. Raka Dalem, who is also
a postgraduate lecturer on Tourism
Study at Udayana University Bali,
said that Bali has a potential to
develop educational or scientific
tours. We have a wide range of ecosystems
from which the tourists can learn
about nature and ecotourism in this
island, especially for the students.
“Ecotourism is a great potential
to develop in Bali not only for
international visitors but also
for the domestic ones. This will
increase diversity of our product
because Bali has been promoting
culture tourism since many years
ago”, Raka Dalem said. (BTN/028).
