I
Wayan Duartha
Tourism and Nature
I love Ubud.” It’s a poetical
line uttered by Resort Manager of Waka di
Ume Resort & Spa. His affection to the
location where he works is not without grounds.
It is this “nature” that becomes
the main reason for the man who always appears
in good look. “I really love the nature
and Ubud is a glamorous territory offering
majestic panorama and rich culture,”
said I Wayan Duartha.
To him, the current situation of tourism
requires a comprehensive development, not
only on its attraction, but also on the
quality of its human resources. ”Ecotourism
activity is significantly appropriate to
be developed in Ubud. The situation of its
nature eminently sustains,” he said.
This activity is truly eco-friendly and
it has been definitely capable of maintaining
the conservation of nature.
“I disagree with the large number
of land utilized for buildings like the
establishment of hotels as it had been out
of control lately. Why do we keep on building,
while the existing hotels stay to reinstate
the level their room occupancy,” he
stated while responding the situation coming
about within the tourism industry.
Revealed, before carrying out any actions,
it should be profoundly thought about in
advance, so it would not be done perfunctorily.
It is crucial to maintain the environmental
survival of Bali.
On the other hand, “preparing highly-cultured
staff” is a desire coming into aspiration
of this man. “I’m sure, by highly-cultured
human resources, they would comprehend such
culture and, as consequence, guests would
get more interested to stay longer in Bali,”
he said while adding, the availability of
human resources mastering the Balinese art
and culture will enable them to narrate
more about Bali.
Pertaining to development of Bali tourism,
he optimistically believed that it would
soon revive. “My obsession is to make
the Waka di Ume an exemplary resort in Bali
that does not only think of profits, but
also of nature and Balinese cultural conservation,”
he uttered on concluding the interview with
Bali Travel News. (BTN/008)
I Made Subawa
To Promote the Indonesian Culture
from Kuta
In this year 2007, the tourist information
center located at Kuta Beach, precisely
in the Lifeguard Building will be completed
with diverse examples of souvenir from several
regions across Indonesia. Souvenirs displayed
will consist of the typicality of respective
region, such as human puppet from Yogyakarta,
Asmat effigy (Irian Jaya), Dayak effigy
(Borneo) and Garuda Vishnu and Legong Dancer
from Bali. Such was observed by the Head
of the Badung Government Tourist Office,
Drs. I Made Subawa, MM on commemorating
its 52nd anniversary together with his staff,
Monday (5/2).
By displaying several souvenirs from all
regions throughout Indonesia, Mr. Subawa
is determined to promote the regions of
Indonesia through Bali. “It complies
with the national program Visit Beautiful
Bali Indonesia,” added this single-son
father.
Talking about tourism, Mr. Subawa did not
want to compartmentalize the regions. Similarly,
he’d not like to be fanatic to the
culture of other region. “I’m
only fanatic to tourism,” he stated
earnestly.
So, what to do in reviving the image of
Bali tourism in rags by the tragedy of Bali
bomb? “Other than overseas road shows
to convince the world community coming to
Bali, some exhibitions or national and international
events will also be conducted in Bali,”
he responded.
In addition, his party has regularly performed
clean-up service, re-greening and territorial
re-making over and healthcare maintenance
at all times. “The more critical issue
is to improve the security at all places,
so tourists would feel convenient and secure
to spend their holiday in Bali,” he
added. (BTN/015)
