Three
Ecotourism Centers in Denpasar
As the capital city of Bali Province, Denpasar
is ensured to become the center of several
kinds of activities, either industry, education
or office complexes. These tend to bring
crowded ambience, dense population and the
reduction of green space as a result. Nevertheless,
it does not necessarily mean that this city
does not have an ecotourism object that
could make visitors feel comfortable.
Head of the Denpasar Government Tourism
Office, Putu Budiasa, said that Denpasar
just launched the Sightseeing Program. Denpasar
has a number of tourist resorts like Sanur
Beach, Ngurah Rai Mangrove Forest Park,
Penatih Village and Kertalangu Sustainable
Village as alternative destinations for
nature recreation. All these places provide
extensive space for tourists’ recreation.
“By enjoying leisure activity in such
places, we assure you, you will feel fresh
and vigorous,” he promoted.
Sanur Beach denotes an object of nature
recreation that has been known from time
immemorial. Other than being gorgeous, this
beach also offers several challenging activities.
Facilities available are: snorkeling, glass
bottom boat, sailing boat or Balinese outrigger,
windsurfing, canoe, Jet Ski, parasailing,
coral fishing, scuba diving and some other
pleasant beach games. The Sea Walker allows
visitors to rejoice in the undersea charm
of its assorted marine biota and coral reef.
The simplest activity is sunbathing on the
white sand while getting pleasure from the
string of pounding waves with their bijou
ripples running ashore. Or visitors can
stretch the muscles by taking a stroll,
exploring the beach fringe along the 5-km
pavement. Jogging in the morning is good
while watching the magnetism of sunrise.
Sanur is situated 6 km east of Denpasar.
Ngurah Rai Mangrove Forest Park is located
at Suwung Kauh Village, South Denpasar.
This destination constitutes a good place
for recreation. Ambience of its nature is
picturesque and verdant. Various species
of mangrove forests could engender peaceful
atmosphere, while in the midst of trees
visitors could be fascinated to see reptiles
crossing as well as several kinds of birds
perching on the branches of trees. In addition,
taking a stroll at the area of mangrove
forest could be a new experience as visitors
can pass through a wooden tracking ground.
Another convenient recreation object lies
at Penatih Village. This location is suitable
for trekking while enjoying the panorama
of green rice fields. Unfortunately, it
is rarely visited by tourists because it
lacks adequate facilities. On the contrary,
visitors both local and foreign prefer to
take advantage of the Sustainable Kertalangu
Village for jogging. Apart from relying
on the vista of rice fields, this 80-hectare
village also provides an open stage, spa
and beauty salon. Similarly, it is equipped
with fishing pond and several kinds of Balinese
handicraft products such as ceramics, decorative
candles, glass, resin, wind chimes, earthenware
vessels, woodcarving and natural stone that
can be purchased at this village. (BTN/budarsana)
