Belantih
Agrotourism
A Superior TOA of Bangli
Belantih agrotourism
at Kintamani district is appointed as
the newly superior Tourist Object and
Attraction (TOA) in Bangli Regency following
the Batur area (Kintamani) and Penglipuran
traditional village (Bangli). The Belantih
agrotourism, developed since 2002, is
expected to become an agropolitan model
namely all local products yielded are
absorbed by both traditional market and
supermarket.
According to Head of Bangli Office of
Cultural and Tourism Service, I Nyoman
Pudia, the potential of this region is
very promising. In other words, the spreading
coffee and tangerine estates along with
other horticulture over an area of 55.5
km2 are very productive. There are some
40,000 Arabica coffee trees listed and
1,550 tangerine trees situated geographically
close to other renowned TOAs such as the
Sangeh monkey forest (Badung), and its
northern region borders with Buleleng
Regency and the capital of Kintamani is
only 20 km. away.
Its pristine rural nature, characterized
by mountainous and small hilly panorama
at its surrounding is appropriate for
recreation destination and very interesting.
“Though it remains in the development
phase,” Pudia added, “this
agrotourism has been favored by both foreign
and domestic tourists.”
For that purpose, his party continually
attempts to establish supporting facilities
like pathways, gazebos and others conveniences
including kiosks for food and souvenirs.
“Diversification of tourist object
like this has long been considered so
that the saturation of visits to Bangli
could be prevented,” he said.
Nevertheless, other TOAs that have been
well developed like the area of Batur,
Penglipuran Village and others continue
to be a priority with visitors. Seemingly,
they have not yet become bored with these
TOAs in Bangli.
Just look at the Batur area relying on
the natural panorama ranging from the
Mount Batur, lake and active caldera.
These have become attractions in their
own right. The Batur area, known as the
area of three-in-one and shored up by
unique tradition of local villagers, remains
the prima donna. And so does the traditional
village of Penglipuran, an icon of a village
in Bali that is capable of maintaining
the geomancy tradition and socio-religious
life of its community.
