International Triathlon 2008
Repeating
its success of the previous year, the Bali
International Triathlon 2008 is once again
organized. At least two hundred and fifty
athletes from sixteen countries will compete
in the international triathlon at the end
of this June at Jimbaran, Bali. This athletic
contest consists of three different events,
typically a 1.5 km swim, resumed with cycling
a distance of 42 km and ending with a long-distance
run of 10 km.
According
to Gentri Amalo, one of the committee members,
swimming would take place at the area of
Jimbaran Bay, right in front of Four Seasons
Resort. Having swum, they would take their
tools and bicycle to resume their competition
by covering the track of Jimbaran Hill.
There is a slight change on the bicycle
track. In this year’s event the bikers
will pass through the more beautiful and
challenging track following the route of
Jimbaran—Nusa Dua—Kampial—Ungasan—Pecatu—Jimbaran.
Having cycled, participants will continue
the event by running for 10 km passing through
the main road of Jimbaran and Kedonganan
customary village. Afterward, they turn
to beach road along the two customary villages
before ending at Four Seasons Resort. Previous
fastest record maker, an English athlete,
Daniel Plews, with a time of 2 hours 50
minutes, is ensured to participate again
in this year’s event.
Still related to the Bali International
Triathlon 2008, there are two other activities
put into competition; the Bali Hotel Association
(BHA) Corporate Relay Challenge namely the
triathlon team of runners participated by
members of the association of hotels in
Bali and 5K Fun Run with the route of 10K
triathlon around Jimbaran customary village
having spectacular beach view. (BTN/*)
